I just finished Konalani's first ever online yoga teacher training, and although I never thought I would want to do something like that online, I am here to tell you if you are considering it - DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!
Konalani is the real deal, you can feel the energy of the people and the place so strongly, even though a computer screen. The instructors, Satyam and Abyha, connect easily and authentically through Zoom. You can feel the quality of their presence and the authenticity of their practice. They were so well prepared to do this online that it's hard to believe it was their first time!
A core concept of the course is learning to teach from the heart, so the coursework goes far beyond learning the Sanskrit names of poses and actually helps you develop your own personal practice, both physically and spiritually. There is a big focus on meditation and mantra, and they introduce both concepts in a very accessible way. I had been meditating for about a year but hadn't really gotten into mantra, but now it's one of my favorite ways to relax my mind and clear my thoughts.
A huge benefit of doing the class online is that there is no tough transition home - I developed my practice here so it's easy to keep it up! Everything is already integrated, so it feels so much more real.
Not only do I feel ready to teach yoga classes, I feel like I now have easier access to my own inner peace - an invaluable gift at any time, but especially at such a time as this. Amidst a global crisis I have found myself more relaxed and at ease than I have ever felt before.
I am honored and excited to share these gifts with the world and hope you will do the same.
Thank you Konalani!!!

Read moreI recently completed the 200 hour Shambhava yoga teacher training at Konalani. This experience had a profound influence on my physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The approach to yoga that Satyam and Abhaya offered enabled me to be present and respect my body as I learned and practiced yoga. Both teachers are passionate and devoted yogis and model this in all aspects of their teachings while also being very funny and warm ď During the training, my days were well structured and filled with meditation, seva, yoga classes, yoga workshops, anatomy and philosophy. I also had several opportunities to teach during my training. With the support of Satyam, Abhaya and the other students, I developed confidence in my ability to teach yoga. The community of students, teachers and volunteers was warm and inclusive. Our group bonded over yoga, conversations and many fun activities. Satyam and Abhaya provided opportunities for us to get creative and make local Hawaiian crafts and take ukulele lesson. They also took us on field trips to the beach and hiking in the forest. The food was delicious and nutritive and eaten as a group. Meals were a great opportunity to share recipes and stories. Now that I have completed the program, I am enjoying a yoga and meditation practice that is creative and respectful for me and my future students. I have developed confidence as a student and teacher of yoga. I highly recommend yoga training at Konalani and look forward to my next training. Sincerely,...
Read moreWhere do I begin. I spent 3 weeks here completing my 200 hour yoga teacher training and I loved every minute of it!! The teachers were absolutely amazing... so kind, knowledgeable, and fun! The other people on the Ashram, as well as the community members who practice here are so great, very friendly and energetic. The food was amazing!!!! A major part of the training included meditation, which I loved! We also preformed Seva tasks throughout our time here to give back to the community. It really felt like being at home. The scheduled is packed and it can be exhausting but there is an emphasis on self care (through yoga and meditation) and paying attention to what your body needs. There were so many fun activities scattered throughout the weeks. We visited Kona a few times. The surrounding beaches and towns are beautiful and fun. They also have an amazing Yogi dog, Mala. She is so friendly and cute and brought us a lot of laughs. I look forward to doing an advanced training here one day. Thank you to Satyam and Abahya and the Ashrma Sangha for the great...
