We loved staying with Joel and Sandy during our honeymoon! We are so lucky to have such a kind and thoughtful couple as our hosts. We were amazed by their artisticness in their handmade furniture and woodcrafts, as well as the design of all the details inside of and around the house. Our room was clean, airy, and spacious. The mattress was very comfortable. We are happy that the room was well equipped with microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The location was super close to downtown Hilo but was peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed listening to the sound of water falls and coqui frogs at night! Additionally, it was always a pleasure talking with Joel and Sandy. They kindly recommended their favorite local restaurants and tips on places of attractions. The best thing about them as hosts is that they take their time to listen to you, and they actively ask for feedback. With their attention to details and thoughtfulness, I have no doubt that they will be one of the best hosts that you will ever meet. Where do we begin? Basically we found paradise at Sandy & Joel's. From the moment we stepped into Ohana 3 we knew we had our perfect fit. Our room was cozy with the highest quality of linens, towels, sheets and toiletries. It was exceptionally clean. The decor is polynesian and zen like. We marveled at the small details such as, unique one of a kind furnishings, to fresh flowers and candles. Our private outdoor bathroom-shower was another example of beauty and utility. We had our own mini refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, access to coolers, ice, bbq, beach chairs, etc, etc. Although we have visited the Big Island for years, we had never stayed at Reeds Island. It's close to Hilo downtown, Akaka Falls and Boiling Pots. At night we sat on our private patio surrounded by a jungle and listened to the sounds of nature. Sandy and Joel are the rarest of hosts. You never see them until you need them. They are knowledgable, talented, helpful and a most delightful couple. Their lodgings reflect the artists they are. We can't wait to...

Joel and Sandy's place was absolutely wonderful! My boyfriend and I stayed here in November and we had the most peaceful and relaxing time. It is a beautiful property with amazing landscaping and the nicest touches. We stayed here for three nights and loved the location. An easy drive (or even walk) into downtown Hilo, and a great homebase to go explore the Volcanoes or the Botanical Garden. Even though we are back on the mainland now, we constantly look back and think about how wonderful this stay was. Hope to get back one day! Thanks for everything! You won't go wrong...
