I have needed to take some time before writing a review to make sure emotions were aside and facts were given.
Last July (31st), I said yes to the dress - wedding was in November. Gail came recommended for me to use to alter my wedding dress. I called Gail the next day (August 1st) and gave her all the info about my dress and our day. She told me to wait until October to bring it. I asked if that would be enough time, she said yes. October 1st I called and she did not remember me (should have been the first red flag). We made the appointment and went to measure and do the first round of alterations. Two and a half weeks passed and I didn’t hear from her. With being so close to our wedding, I reached out in hopes of updates on the dress. I spent 3 days leaving messages and trying to get ahold of her - nothing. She finally responded and asked for me to come do a second try on. I went and to my surprise, she had not touched the dress. Had not even started it and my wedding was in 2 & a half weeks. It was 2 days before my wedding and I could not get ahold of her. Remind you, this is a $1,200 dress for my wedding day - i went to the shop and my dress was in pieces - everywhere. When I was very visibly upset, Gail began trying to push me out of the door, away from the other customers and said “Don’t be upset”. It was my WEDDING DRESS, 2 days before my wedding. She promised to work on it all night and have it ready first thing in the morning - she refused to give it back to me for me to try to go find someone who could help me in a professional manner. I called a lawyer to see what my options were if she did not return it the next day. THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING, I picked up my wedding dress and so much was wrong… We had to hire someone to come out to our house (yes, we had to hire somebody and spent extra money we did not have the day before the wedding) and fix my dress the best they could. They left a list full of details - the padding in the bra area was not even measured out to be even, they were mix & match pads so they didn’t sit the same on both sides, she did not take in around the waist or the shoulders like she was supposed to, she sewed the lace on crooked on the sleeves and so much more… My dress of my dreams did not fit me for my wedding day like it was supposed to. It hung, baggy in the areas she was supposed to fix. It was such a big disappointment on our wedding day. I understand if a dress is too complicated for you to alter, but why not just say so instead of ruining somebody’s dream dress in their wedding day? After much reflection, I decided not to get the lawyer involved any further. She had already taken so much from me, I didn’t want Gail to be another thought in my life again.
I really hope this review can help people in the future to not to business with Gail. I would hate for someone else to go through the same situation and...
