Food Lion — Local services in Hickory

This is the most racist experience I’ve ever had at this food lion I’ve been going since I was in high school and lately this business has went downhill. To the woman named Debbie that works there I hope you get punished for what I witnessed today. Let me explain, I was standing in line behind two Hispanic woman at customer service while I was waiting for my turn to get a money order. As I was standing waiting in line I noticed Debbie get noticeably more and more frustrated as the women could barely speak English and they were trying to translate their language to English so Debbie could help them. That didn’t matter to Debbie as she was still frustrated. What follows is completely unnecessary and uncalled for in every way possible. She said “ why don’t you just send the money to Mexico where you’re from” knowingly that they would not be able to understand what she had said. I then got my money order and went out to the car and told my wife who then proceeded to go back inside to file a complaint as I was just going to call corporate. As my wife asks to speak to the manager Debbie proceeds to run over and plead her case before my wife can even explain what happens. Debbie then proceeded to cry and play victim. I then got in the car to make this review and saw everyone else make reviews about their experience with racism. This is outrageous and will not be tolerated by myself. I was here at the store 8-23-25 at 10pm with my family and I will admit I was on the phone while my husband and kids shopped I was using EBT hey times are hard unfortunately the back of the card is pretty worn out and I asked the old lady with long grey hair if I could type in the card number as the back is worn out she smirked at me shaking her head with attitude and literally snatched the card out of my hand and gave it to another cashier and said here deal with this j can't do this and said I'll suspend the ticket and the other cashier had to stop her and say no just give me the ticket I could do it he was super sweet and could tell he was embarrassed by by his co-workers attitude I did say sorry to her for the inconvenience and she proceeded to scoff at me ........I'm sorry but your a minimum wage part-time retail worker I wouldn't be scoff at anyone she was rude and disrespectful and the reason i will not be shopping there I don't know if she had an issue with me using an EBT card that was mine or she hates her job but her attitude was uncalled for and might I mention she didn't have an attitude with the white lady who couldn't pay for her entire cart of groceries and left it for her but had a huge issue with me a Mexican woman sorry but it does scream racist here is some advice food lion do better with...

Smh... I've been going to Springs Road location well over 30 years but the last 2 years some of the cashiers are extremely rude here and when you report it to the manager's they just don't care... When I complained about putting my vegetables and bananas with cans after I separated everything the cashier got mad and wanted to argue over a bag said I have to put six items in there... but I had six produce items and lettuce together she just didn't care.. I was told to pay for my groceries and leave! in a real nasty tone I talked to the store manager she always defends them and her tone is not very nice either when they're wrong... one time one of the cashier came from behind the counter and wanted to fight a customer and left us standing in the line and the store manager just took her outside down the sidewalk just to talk to her like it's okay? I was like are you serious ...that's awful they're only hurting Food Lion... really sad because I love Food Lion 💔but the kind of behavior they are allowing will run off their customers from poor customer service I never complain about the inside of the freezer bin smelly from chicken juice... I'm sure that can happen anywhere no problem but I will complain about rude customer service but one thing I know the President of Food Lion does care about...
