I'll be honest, I have mixed feelings about this gorcery store. I've heard so many horror stories about the owner from so many people that I don't really want to support it, but on the other hand, this is a very small community, and we need a grocery store, so I have to support it to some extent.
I feel that the prices in the store are really high most of the time, and it doesn't make sense to buy things there when I could just buy them during my bi-weekly trip to Blue Springs. The meat and ice cream are very expensive, but the produce isn't. I pick and choose what I buy from there, unless I direly need it and they don't have it at any local produce stand/farm or Walmart.
Also, one day when I went in there, I was looking at their marked down meats, and some of them were already DAYS past their best by dates. I know those aren't absolute, but I wouldn't expect them to sell already expired foods, even on discount.
Overall, it's nice to have a grocery store in the community, I just wish it wasn't this...
Read moreWorst local Grocery Store in town. Ever since it's competitor went out of business, they jacked the price up a few dollars. For example, they are selling Johnsonville Bacon and Cheddar grillers (6 pack) for 8.25 a box. You can drive to Walmart in Warrensburg or Richmond and the price for a box there be 5.65. Hands down one of the most money grubbing local store in town
To add to it, make sure you grab EVERY receipt from that store and check the bags. Had a couple of times I would be missing an item because they would either just not put it in a bag or they just very forgetful. Pretty sure the workers just don't care about customer experience because their boss is just as pitiful and disrespectful to the customers.
Until Higginsville gets a better Walmart, I'd advice taking your money to Walmart in Warrensburg or Richmond to save money for same product and better experience. You'd even be saving money just driving there once a week to grab a week of food than spend a week...
Read moreMoose's is the worst grocery store. I used to work here. The owner ended up cutting my pay and ours because I had a family emergency. After taking one day off to go to the city to make sure my father was ok, she cut my pay and hours. I was not going to be able to pay bills with that. So I eneded up leaving the job. This is what they don't want you to know. The owner is always rude because she is always drunk. The prices are gorging high, especially meat. It's the only grocery store in town so they take advantage of it and make their prices high. The owner has yelled at customers and employees. She has employees that have worked there more than 20+ years and they still only work for $11-$12 or so per hour. The bathrooms are nasty, lots of items are expired and sold. I stopped shopping their after working there. She is a terrible person and doesn't care about the customers. I wish more people knew about the stuff that happens there. I pray we get a new grocery...
