In the 5+ years that I have worked with Macnician, I have found their service to be outstanding in every way. I first learned about Brian Sugarman through students at Highland Park High School when I asked students there where I could find troubleshooting and repair of my laptop.
This came about because as an Apple computer and telephone user, I often found it difficult to address issues that occasionally would crop up during regular use. I needed to have quick and easy access to honest and reliable help.
I found that instead of sitting on the phone with Apple, I could get service from Macnician that would get me back working with minimal disruption. I found the process of working through Apple to be frustrating and unproductive. On most occasions, I was able to get quick answers through Brian, and often there was no charge. On two occasions, I purchased used laptops through him that I was able to use for my needs and that of my daughter. Once, Brian recommended that I go to Apple for a new battery because he discovered that I had a battery that was under warranty. These are repairs that I’m fairly sure would have been different had I gone directly to Apple.
I am so happy that I found Brian and his shop right here in Highland Park where I live. Whenever something happens, I go there for prompt, professional, and...
Read moreI have run a small business using Apple Macintosh computers for over 35 years. We have a large, ragtag but usually fully-functioning, fleet of Apple iMacs, Mac Pros, Apple Xserve’s, MacBooks, Mac minis, and every other Mac flavor from 2007-2022 you can imagine in our network. Brian has successfully repaired and upgraded (and sometimes downgraded to older but necessary Mac operating system versions) a number of our machines over the years. Last year we brought him a load of 5 older 27” iMacs and he diagnosed each one for free, let us know which ones were repairable, which ones were worth fixing, from which of the former we could harvest parts and memory to re-use in the latter, and even offered to recycle those machines which were at the end of their useful life.
Brian is a true Mac Genius who cares about his customers’ computers, but unlike most of those at the apple store “G Bar”, also truly cares about the customers who own those computers. An original Apple Mensch.
His prices are reasonable, diagnostic skills impeccable and turnaround time incredible.
At first I wanted to give him ten stars if I could, but then realized that if I only gave him the one star it might further delay him from being inundated with the legions of frustrated refugees from the apple store.
So let’s just keep the Macnician as our little...

For all things Apple, I HIGHLY recommend MACNICIAN for any repairs, training, home or office networking. The owner, Brian Sugarman, has extensive experience since he is a former Apple genius in 2 states. His best reference is he was strongly recommended to me by the Geniuses at the Apple Northbrook store. Brian is honest, respectful and no-nonsense and focuses on solving your problem. He will tell you what he can and can't do. He is not going to sell you anything you don't need. Prices are very reasonable especially when you have lost data, hard drives crashes, password or any issues. He has set up our home network and synch up all devices, printers, etc. for myself and other friends. He makes great recommendations on where to get printers, external hard drives and other stuff you need. Love his new easy-to-find location on Park Avenue in Highland Park - mall behind the Dunkin Donuts or the corner of Highway...
