I was driving along US-64 on the way to Franklin, and I happened upon this very awesome waterfall! I had enough of a reaction that I was able to immediately find a decent spot to pull over and investigate. Now, fair warning, the part on US-64 that you need to drive to get here is pretty treacherous so make sure you're a skilled driver.

While other people seem to have experienced a large gushing force of a waterfall, when I was there, the water was incredibly thin and ribbon-like, so I figured the waterfall got its name that way.

There was also a spot where you can drive underneath the waterfall, but that was closed when I got there. However, if you find a spot to park, you can most certainly walk around and underneath it!

If you're along US-64, west of the town of Highlands, most definitely give this...

This place is magical. We went here because it recently snowed and the place looks surreal. You feel the mist on your face, and it makes you feel like you’re some ethereal place and not in NC! The reason I give it 3 out of 5 stars is because other visitors ruined this place. First, there’s clearly signs/barricades blocking the road under the falls, there’s a thick blanket of ice/snow and there were huge icicles just hanging overhead. Clearly, that’s a warning sign for people — but my goodness, some folks just kept on going beyond the barricade. Icicles we’re dropping every now and then due to the sun directly shining on the area. SMH. Other people were also so loud and obnoxious. Oh, and there was trash scattered everywhere: used masks, pacifiers, dirty diapers and plastic wrappers. People ruin...

This place is FREE! Located in Western NC on Hwy 64. Be sure to check out Dry Falls around the corner (less than 3 minutes away). For bikers this is a great Day trip. Nice combo of mountain road twists and turns, interstate, and lesser known back roads. There's a BBQ restaurant closeby and outdoor shopping/market area. Few resorts and country clubs as well. It's kid friendly as far as stopping by and continuing to something else kids can do to really occupy their time. As a main destination for the kids, not really. Kids will be in the car/van/suv/pickup 90%...
