Dry Falls is probably the most impressive waterfall in the Cullasaja River Gorge between Highlands and Franklin, NC. At 80 feet, it's very big and powerful. It is located just 3 miles west of Highlands on US-64 in Nantahala National Forest. There is a nominal day use fee and the Forest Service has constructed some very nice amenities for this day use area in the past couple of years. There is a large parking lot just off the highway, a vault toilet, picnic benches, and a short trail leading to and under the falls. Part of this trail is handicapped accessible so even those who can't do stairs can see the beautiful waterfall. Dry Falls is named "dry" because there is a large natural grotto behind the waterfall so visitors can walk behind the falls while staying dry. Of course this depends on the water level. In high water, not so dry. But, the high water levels make the waterfall itself that much more impressive, even if it doesn't quite live up to its name. The photo opportunities here are great, because you can literally shoot from every angle possible - front, behind, and both sides - all while staying on the well-maintained trail. So if you're in the Highlands area, don't miss the opportunity to see this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you drive further ahead, about eight minutes, of the Bridal Veil Falls there's an area on the left to park for the Dry falls. There is a machine to buy a parking pass. When I passed to check it was a free fee day. I'm unclear if it's because it's Saturday or because of the hour. Also, come early because there is limited parking spaces! We were leaving around 2 PM and there was a line of five cars waiting for a parking space. There is a restroom here, it is like an outhouse as in no flushing or running water. Make sure to bring water and hand sanitizer. Yes, you can smell the bathroom. Those with a sensitive smell don't get near the small brown house with two black tubes on either side. Now, to see the Dry Falls you must go down a path slopping down with stairs. I saw many elderly with a cane being able to walk down with assistance. It is incredibly beautiful. Plenty of picture worthy spots. Definitely a family spot. There were many who came with children and carpooled to the area. There were also many bikers on the road. This scenic spot is one of many on the road. A definite place to bring family or come...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am responding to Doug Phillips and his response to my original review. Again he lies. $1500 in repairs when. My mechanic told me nothing was repaired. He has not returned one email or text as soon as i started questioning him about the parts he said were replaced he stopped responding. As far as muffler i didnt know there was an issue with muffler again another lie. The problems are far worse then this loud muffler which we never complained about. There have been several attempts to get WE OWE completed. Auto gallery does not return calls. Our estimate we got for the We Owe list says bumper and glove compartment need replaced. Auto gallery wants to not fix it right. They want a cheap fix. Attempts to get in touch wuth Doug to send estimate have been ignored by him. Resolution? You told me Auto Gallery was not at fault and you offered to pay out the We Owe for $100-$300. When the repairs for We owe are going to cost more then this. This is the truth and this is what happened. AUTO GALLERY IS A HORRIBLE PLACE. BUYING A CAR FROM THEM IS NOT...
