A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I went to the pool. Upon entering the pool, I noticed a used bandaid in the water. My husband went to the lifeguard to ask if he could remove the bandaid and the lifeguard nonchalantly said that he didn't have anything to get the bandaid out with. My husband then ask if they had any gloves so that he himself could remove the bandaid and the lifeguard nonchalantly told him they didn't have gloves. My husband then searched around the area to see if he could find anything to help him retrieve the bandaid. After about 10 mins of searching, my husband decided to just get his laps done and I decided to proceed to do excerises for knee strengthening ( I injured my knee a few weeks ago and water therapy was suggested by my PT) so we could get out of there. While in the pool, the lifeguard continued to sit, cover his eyes and kept his head down ( shouldn't they be watching the swimmers?) He appeared to not want to be at work and seemed to have a very nasty attitude. All of this made me uncomfortable so I decided to get out and leave. A couple days later I came back to report the these issues to someone. The staff at the front desk didn't seem to thrilled to help me. All I was told to do was stand at the little machine by the front door to fill out a complaint. Standing up at a machine to type all of this wasn't going to work for me due to me not being able to stand for long periods of time at this moment. So I ask the staff if there was another way and I was told a flat out "NO" It was very obvious that no one wanted to get involved so I finish my workout in the gym and went home. I don't feel like me issues were addressed at all. The staff were of no support and they stared at me as if I did something wrong. I've never left a review for any establishment but this occurrence was the straw that broke the camels back. The world is already lacking compassion. The least a community center can do is assure their community and customers that their concerns matter. And since I'm here, I also want to add that the women's locker room is absolutely disgusting. I come dressed in my swimsuit to ensure I can avoid having to use their...
Read moreStaff is great! The facility got a facelift in 2020, but I don't know where they put the improvements because I wasn't a member before that. The pool is a basic lap pool from the 90's with broken tiles. Lifeguards are all great ladies (no males at time of review) & take time to really help your kids even during open swim. Early 2022 they put new exercise equipment in the weight room. The new machines have QR codes you can scan & get a tutorial on how to properly use the machine. It's probably the smallest YMCA I've seen, but there's definitely plenty to do and a wide variety of classes. I haven't ever used the gym so I can't speak to that. Again- great staff just not a state-of-the-art facility. That being said; the fees are the lowest in the area. Even Portage (who doesn't have a pool) has a higher membership fee. Absolutely...
Read moreI've been a member longer then some of the staff that have been working here, and its quite annoying that some of these staff members go out there way to be mean and rude. I get enforcing rules is understandable but when you go to disturb the peace of members that arent really doing anything wrong makes you look like a complete a**, if everyone is peaceful then what is the issue. also its a little suspect that you cant play music out loud in the gym but they have zumba classes that blast music... i just dont get the vibes here sometimes... almost seems like you are targeted, not every staff member here is mean. I have love for a majority of them, some of them i have no idea where the audactiy comes from. Ive been to other YMCAs in the area and they almost all value the members at a higher standard and make you...
