I have worked with gun trainers for many years. The first one was a former commando who trained me on my 357 magnum for three intensive months, in Santa Barbara California. Years later, I spent many months training with a former ranger, who still teaches at Fort Bragg, learning my Glock 17 and my Daniel defense AR. A few months ago I bought a Glock 43 from H&R gun works. I target practiced with it and took it back to the store, asking them to lighten the trigger pull as it was two pounds heavier than my Glock 34, which at five pounds I found perfect. When I picked the Glock 43 up the trigger pull was lighter but when I tried to shoot it, it misfired 2 to 3 times out of every 10 shots! The firing pin barely had enough force to ignite the primer sometimes barely leaving a mark on the shell. When I took the gun back to the store, Hillary, the owner said I was firing it wrong! She said there’s nothing wrong with the way the gunsmith worked the Glock and it was fine, it was my shooting that was off! When I spoke to a close girlfriend of mine, who is a retired commander in the navy, she said that is not true! They messed up your Glock and should definitely fix it as it’s useless the way it is. I also spoke to a good friend in Florida who spent most of his career as a policeman, who said they’ve done something wrong with the firing pin since it is not hitting the bullet and they should be responsible and own up to what they did and make your Glock usable again! I took the Glock back to H&R gun works and asked them to fix it. After a couple of weeks they returned it to me saying they had taken it to the range and there was nothing wrong with the Glock. I took it home and my husband took videos of me shooting it that showed the gun not firing. I took the Glock back to the store , but the owner was not there, so I left it with the videos my husband had taken hoping they would finally fix it. When I got the gun back, they had tightened the trigger pull to almost what it was originally and it fired okay. I paid H&R $65 to lighten the trigger pull which they said would be easy but in the end they just caused me a lot of unnecessary hassle and left me for 2 months without my gun. The owner never owned up to her mistake or said they was sorry! I have owned guns for over 50 years and used gunsmiths in Santa Barbara California, Austin Texas, Asheville, North Carolina and Homosassa Florida and they have all been excellent. This is the only gun store I have ever been to where the gunsmith made a mistake, but the owner is so steeped in denial about any possible mistakes, and so imbued with self-importance that she was incapable of taking responsibility for their mistake and simply fix my Glock without all the ridiculous accusations of me not firing...
Read moreIf I could give this place negative stars I most definitely would. I took my British 303 in to them for ceracoating. BIG mistake!!! Although the finish is decent, the so-called gun smith who disassembled it for the process is a joke. First thing when upon reassembly, he found that the extractor spring was “weak” so I gave the go ahead to replace it. After it was completed and I picked up my rifle. A month or so later a buddy and I took our firearms to an indoor range (good thing too), when it was the 303’s turn to spend some rounds, I had difficulty chambering a round so I just chambered one manually. When I pulled the bolt back, the extractor spring along with the spent round went flying. So that ended the day as we had already fired everything else. I later “set” the spring the way it should’ve been by their “gun smith”. Now after 8 or 9 months later, another buddy and I were having a gun cleaning party and I had told him about the inability to load a round using the bolt. After a few minutes we discovered that the firing pin was protruding out from the bolt. I went back to them with my rifle and told them about the issue. They said they’d look at it and that it would be a 2 week turn around time, I said whatever. Yesterday they called to say my rifle was ready and that it would be $100?!?!?!? I went in today and was like am I being charged for something they didn’t do right. They said that when I dropped the rifle off to get ceracoated that I hadn’t dropped everything off at the same time. It was completely intact other than the magazine, which I dropped off the next day before the rifle was ever disassembled. Anyway they insisted that they took the bolt apart and reassembled & adjusted it and test fired the rifle. When I inspected the bolt, it was EXACTLY the same way as I had dropped it off. But the owner insisted that everything was working just fine. So when I arrived home a little bit ago, I attempted to chamber a round and the pictures included show why I took my rifle to them. The firing pin is sticking out of the bolt enough that the round is hanging up on it and not going into the chamber like it’s supposed to.
I WILL NEVER EVER PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS...
Read moreWill never buy guns from here again. I went in one day just looking because I was doing travel work in the area. I stopped by and seen a couple mediocre pistols (which should’ve been my first sign to walk out), but I still continued to look. At the time I was considering buying an AR15 pistol which they had hanging on the wall “brand new” so I checked it out, the gun seemed fine so we went thru with everything. So they sold me the gun and some ammunition “to go with it”. Come to find out when I got home to test fire it, that they sold me the wrong bullets! The gun was made for 300 blk and they gave me 5.56. Simple fix right? No. I purchase the 300 blk rounds and take the gun for another test fire and shot once and click. Shot once and click. So now I bring it back for them to look at and they tell me theres nothing wrong. I test it again and the same thing goes on about 2-3 times with these people. I ran every ammo I was instructed to by them and I’ve had a half working gun now for about 3 months because they don’t know anything about how to fix the broken gun they sold me. On top of all that I had to travel for 2 hours on 2 separate occasions to have them look at this gun. Worst gun store I’ve bought from. 10-10 would not recommend!!!! ………………..
Quick update since I made this review a couple weeks ago! I ran into someone who was having similar issues and he instructed on what bullets to use for this particular gun, which were not any of the bullets HnR had informed me to use at all! My advice for this business is get more educated on firearms before you open a gun store as the knowledge I’ve seen from the staff and owner is slim to none beside knowing what a gun looks like. And stop telling people they don’t know how to operate their own...
