If I could write this review with a negative amount of stars, I would! Our fan wasnât working on the unit outside. Our unit is three years old. We have a parts warranty, but can go through any company for labor. Let me tell you calling And Services was a mistake! Charlie came out, and within a few minutes he said it was the compressor. No, he didnât test it. He put in a new capacitor, and told me he didnât know if ours was bad(ummm..test it). While he was here the air began cooling again, so he left. Not before convincing me that I needed a maintenance package incase we needed the compressor(we would get a discount on labor). The labor the quoted for the compressor was 2k. Yes, just labor. The fan kicked off two days later. Resetting the breaker seemed to temporarily correct the issue. Charlie came out again and said he couldnât test for anything if the unit was running(thatâs a blatant lie). He tried to blame the issue on the wiring of the house. Yes, something electrical is going on, but itâs not the wiring of the house. He left again the air was cooling, but no real resolution. Two days later, same thing. I call to have them come back out and they give me a bit of the run around. I spoke with Mike Seranno(a manager). After telling him the story, he immediately refunded the cost of the maintenance package, and said he would send out Antonio first thing in the morning. While I had Mike on the phone I asked him how much labor was on a compressor just out of curiosity. He told me around $915. Thatâs way different than Charlieâs quote of 2k that he made a phone call to confirm the price of. The air quit cooling at 9:30 that evening. The compressor was no longer running. I tried to reset the breaker to see if that would help, but this time the breaker popped and sparked. Antonio was polite and professional. Tested a lot, but also was saying the compressor was bad. It was over heated. He tested it at the wires and it tested fine. When tested it at the compressor(not the wires), he said two windings were bad. When I asked him to test it in front of me, all three gave a signal that they were good. He couldnât find anything but a bad breaker(which wasnât the whole issue), and offered to replace that for only $400đł. Antonio also left with no resolution. My dad came by and installed the breaker in less than two minutes. I called Shawn at S.O.S. Refrigeration & HVAC. He came out and discovered Charlie put a capacitor in that was too small for the unit. Iâll attach a pic. Our original will be on the right and the one Charlie put in was in the left. I kept our original capicator. It was tested and was bad. Shawn put in a new capacitor of the correct size, and a new kick start. Our old kick start was bulging at the bottom and leaking. There was a visible drip on the unit. Iâm not sure how this was missed by 2 techs from And Services(with Charlie saying he has 30 years of experience). This couldâve been an easy and honest repair for And Services, but they chose to try to convince me that it was the compressor. Shawn at S.O.S Refrigeration & HVAC will have my business and recommendation to friends and family as long as he is in business. He diagnosed and repaired the issue in 30 minutes while And Services couldnât in three calls that totaled...

Hereâs the update!!! If I could give this company zero stars I would. Their technician, Peter, came out and was informed that the issue I was having is that my heater/air conditioning unit wouldnât turn on and that I found that it had tripped the breaker.
I opened the breaker box, showed Peter the breaker that had been tripped, informed him that I had turned it back on, and he wanted to argue with me that it was currently in the tripped position. Again, I had turned it back on. That shouldâve been the first red flag!đŠ
Peter proceeds to open my unit and hook his gauges to my Freon lines. He quickly informs me that I have very low psi, â50 and it should be around 120â. The presumption is that I have a leak that will need to be repaired. He asked me how old the unit was, and I do not know. Some of the information has worn off of the panels. He contacts A representative at his company, who, according to records of deeds, assumes that the unit is probably around a 2007 unit. Then the assumption is made that my unit has R 22 Freon it.
For those who donât know, R 22 Freon has been phased out, and is very expensive if found. Peter doesnât know if he can find R 22 and suggest that we just replace the unit because itâs so old. He comes up with a quote of $10,000!!! Mind you, my house is a 930 ft.² double wide manufactured home. It does not require the 3 ton unit that currently exist on my property.
I go into panic mode, trying to figure out where I can come up with $10,000. Itâs cold outside and I needed heat in my house. I end up deciding that I want to shop around and in the meantime bought a couple space heaters.
I happen to meet, Bryan, a young man at my job who is a commercial HVAC repairman. He came to my house. He opened the panel. He immediately sees the stickers that say that my unit is a 410 Freon unit. Not just one sticker, but at least three saying do not put R 22 in this 410 unit!!!
He puts his gauges on my unit, and I have over 120 psi. No leak! No low psi!
This young man proceeds to troubleshoot why the breaker tripped. He locates a burnt out transformer. I was able to find one and purchase it at Ace Hardware for $38. After replacing it, my AC is working!!! When Bryan turned on the heat, it blew a fuse. He then troubleshoot and found a Contact that needed to be replaced. He had this part on his van and replaced it. That was a $42 part. I bought a box of four fuses for a little over six dollars at Ace Hardware. He replaced the fuse and my unit is completely fully working.
Hereâs my conclusion! Pay attention to the red flags! If your gut tells you that somebodyâs trying to pull a scam on you, believe your gut! A $10,000 quoted job, turned to $100 in parts and what I decided to pay Bryan, the man who has nothing but complete integrity! Thank you, God for keeping good people...
Read moreBUYER BEWARE I had given these guys a great review⌠but I know better now!
I originally called because one of my breakers tripped repeatedly. That breaker controlled outlets in two of my three bedrooms, as well as an outdoor receptacle . I was very impressed that they came out almost immediately and that there was no service charge for the call. The technician opened up my electrical panel, but that was the extent of his diagnostics. He told me that we need to be completely rewired and that I should have a $900 surge suppressor in spite of the fact that for 11 years weâve been just fine. He gave me three estimates the highest was almost $9000. The lowest was around $4000. I concluded that it was easier for me to keep resetting the breaker, so I thanked him and wrote a nice review.
Less than a week later, the waterfall in my backyard stopped working. It was on the same breaker that had been tripping before. I called AND again and the same technician named Mike came out and once again spent no time diagnosing but reiterated that he needed to run an entirely new circuit, disturb my Landscaping, etc. his bid for this work was about $3500. This all seemed very suspicious, so before I committed to an expense like that, I thought Iâd get other opinions. I got hold of two handyman that work in the Villages and one came out yesterday. The first thing he did was look at the receptacle and verify that it was receiving no current. He And I agreed that there was most likely a direct burial line feeding the receptacle since I had told him that the two bedrooms were on the same breaker. he walked to the side of the house and got to that outdoor receptacle that my landscape lighting is plugged into. He immediately tested that ground fault receptacle only to find that the hot wire going in was live, but the hot wire coming out was not. This led him to believe that the problem was the ground fault receptacle. He then connected the two black wires in that box and the two white wires directly, and when I flipped the breaker, low and behold the fountain worked, I asked him to replace both receptacles , so he drove to Loweâs when he returned, he hooked the wires back up I flipped the breaker and sure enough everything was good. Didnât need a surge protector, didnât need to rewire my whole house! Didnât need to tear up my landscaping, so one has to askâŚwhat is up with that?
The handyman asked me for $90 which included purchasing the two receptacles. I gave him $150 and my sincere gratitude.
We in the Villages know weâre sitting ducks, ripe for the plucking. Weâre the low hanging fruit in the service business but if youâve read this, I hope youâll understand that always get a second and third opinion and if something doesnât sound just right, it...
