This bridge has a $1 toll to cross in either direction. It is a convenient way to cross the Columbia from Hood River into Washington near White Salmon or up towards Mount Adams. It's also a convenient way to cross from there back to Oregon or I-84. That said, unlike The Dalles Bridge and The Biggs Junction Bridge further up Hey 14 and I-84, this bridge has a toll. As stated, it's $1 in either direction. Also, the main surface of this bridge is metal grating, which always feels like the car is slipping and being tossed around (even when it's not). If I'm headed east, I'd rather cross at The Dalles or Biggs Junction. If I'm headed west, whether I'd cross hear depends on where I'm headed. If I'm headed to Portland, I'll just continue up Hwy 14 and cross on I-205. This bridge is convenient, but the metal grating surface and the tolls make it a lesser choice, as there are better choices to cross on in for free. The only time I'd cross hear is when it's much more convenient for...

Read moreMy wife said to give it 3 stars, but I'm gonna give it one star. The most scariest bridge I've ever driven across and as previous reviewers have said the bridge is made up of metal slats that when you drive over them, the car moves side to side my wife took the video as I drove the speed limit is 15 miles an hour. There's a reason for that I could just imagine somebody trying to fly over this bridge at 50 plus plunge into the Columbia river gorge. This place, it's very scary. I highly recommend going 20 miles up the road over the bridge of the gods. It feels much more stable but if you do go over the Hood River bridge, I know a great restaurant right up the road. You need a break after riding...
