The photo says it all. As someone that’s never seen the ridge-and-valley Appalachians before, driving through the turnpike, and pulling off to see this spectacular view was a breathtaking experience. Between Philly and Pittsburgh, there were several facets of nature that I, as a Texan, had simply never seen before. I mean, red leaves? Our most common trees are evergreens. The fog of the morning, mixed with the cool, crisp, autumnal air; combined with the unique architecture of the (I believe they are) grain silos, and the geographically unique terrain provided an excellent photograph and an excellent short break from the country’s best toll road. If you know of a better toll road, other than the one near me with the highest posted limit of 85mph, please let me know.

Best for last. The good: Seemed clean and well maintained, very grateful for turpike reststops. The bad: Sbarro hours are NOT accurate. Do not believe them if it says they are open. Roy Rogers is way overpriced. I know prices are up, but over $22 for chicken and 2 sides is ridiculous. I can get a grilled sirloin steak and 3 sides from Cracker Barrel for $15.39 (I checked). Best: Found a hidden gem in the form of a sub, hero, grinder (depending on where you are from). THE 7-11 had a deli cooler with local made subs that interested me enough to get a couple for the trip. I just had the first one and deeply regret not getting more. Better than Subway for value and was a great sub IMHO. It was an R&K Subs - Italian with peppers large sub for only $6.99.

The dirtiest service plaza I’ve ever entered into in my life, there was so much trash and litter in the parking lot. The waste bins were overflowing along with the pet waste disposal. Roy Rogers was the only place open, food options are limited at best, The turnpike needs to take signs down advertising this place as a food exit at best a convenience store. Perhaps if Governor Wolf Would stop incentivizing people to stay home, instead of earning a living we would NOT have such an issue. If zero was a rating option, I would have chose that. I will be packing a cooler from now on, so my family is not subjected to utter filth.

If I could give this place zero Stars I would. The staff at Roy Rogers was so ignorant that I thought the place was closing because when I had asked her if I could just have an order chicken figures she replied we don't have chicken we don't have Burgers all we have is fish and it's going to take 10 minutes at least, so I replied oh I'm sorry do you guys get off of work I didn't mean to come in so late to which she replied no I don't get off till 7 in the morning. So needless to say I kept my cool order fish to go, and got the eck out of there. As I was waiting for my food I was stared at by a what I can assume as a janitor a young kid staring me down so much he actually tripped over a chair it was extremely uncomfortable in the worst place I have ever been I don't care if I am dying I will never stop...
