This is not the same cemetery we dealt with in 1996 for our daughter. They have since sold out and my experience has been awful at a very bad time. My mom passed away May 25, 2023 in Nacogdoches. She was cremated in Van and then we were putting her with my step - dad at Forest Lawn. Trying to handle that was bad and in the midst of ot all my counselor left so I had to constantly call to make sure the date was setup for her service. The marker was already there with my step - dad and her on it. All they had to order was the date plate for her. Her service was June 26, 2023. I have called so many times that I have lost count. I want to make sure that her date gets on there. I have never received a call back. I have been told that the person who handke this is not there we will have her call you back. I have also been told that she was busy and she would call me back. I called again today and finally spoke to this women Kendall. She tells me that it was never ordered and blamed it on the counselor that is no longer there. She said that she didn't turn it in. The counselor was gone right before we had my mom's service. It has been over four months. She says that she will order it today. I told her that I wanted a call after it was ordered and give me an eta. I asked if they could expedite it since they messed up. I am sure that I won't receive a call. They seem very disorganized and don't seem to care about the deceased or their family. Mr. Soto handled my mom's service and he did a great job. We have a daughter at this cemetery. My husband has another daughter at this cemetery and my dad and mom are there. We also have plots there, but not sure I want to go through this again or put my kids through this. Grieving and making it day to day is enough to deal with. They do have a nice new building, etc. however the service is not...
Read moreI visited my nana and uncle’s grave today to clean it up so this weekend we can bring our kids and take flowers out well what I saw when I got there was extremely upsetting and emotional for me. I’ll be honest it’s been a while since anyone has visited but it seems that the cemetery’s maintenance crew just doesn’t care that someone’s loved one is buried and being remembered there. As an adult I have visited the grave site in 2015/2017/2022 & today 5/13/2025. I’ve taken pictures each visit and the plots have gotten significantly worse and my nana’s specifically is so corroded and green/discolored I am struggling to understand how she passed 7 years after my uncle not to mention the time it took for the actual stones to be made and hers looks so bad now compared to his. His shoes slight signs of discoloration and corrosion it nothing like hers. Despite my husband and i’s attempts to clean the past two visits it didn’t help. In 2022 my mom and I came out together and she put in a request at the office to have the granite/plot raised and leveled b/c it is sinking and any time someone was buried in the surrounding areas the plot would be covered in mud & also asked that my nana’s be fixed b/c it was scratched up from mowers being run over it and corroded/turned a greenish color between 2017-2022. I’m really disappointed and upset at the corrosion on my nana’s plot and there’s also a chip in the granite at the top of the cross where it appears a mower blade hit it. A lot of money was paid for her and her son to have a nice headstone/burial plot & it has been completely destroyed. Hopefully it can be refurbished or fixed and brought back to its original form because my family deserves better than this carelessness. Photos are in order 1. 2015 2. 2017 3.& 4. 2022 4,5,6 5/13/25 before and after...

From our very first interaction with Forest Lawn Cemetery, my family has been enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth, professionalism, and genuine care that has transformed one of life's most difficult journeys into a peaceful experience.
Hilda Esparza, our Family Services Counselor, has been nothing short of an angel guiding us through every step. Her compassion and attention to detail have been a constant source of comfort. Hilda personally assisted us in selecting and purchasing my mother's headstone, offering thoughtful guidance while honoring our wishes perfectly. She ensured the installation process went flawlessly, paying close attention to every detail - because for Hilda, these aren't just tasks, they're sacred acts of love.
But her care didn't stop there. Every time I return to visit, Hilda greets me with open arms, offering cold water on warm days and personally driving me in a golf cart to the gravesites of my mother and other family members. She remembers every detail about our family, making each visit feel like being welcomed home by someone who truly understands our loss.
The grounds of Forest Lawn are well maintained, radiating peace and beauty that honors our loved ones. The entire staff operates with the same level of professionalism and kindness that Hilda exemplifies.
For anyone seeking a resting place where your loved ones will be treated with reverence and your family will be supported with heartfelt compassion, Forest Lawn Cemetery - and especially Hilda Esparza - provides nothing less than extraordinary care.
