Recommended by a family member, I went here to pick up some steaks for Mother's Day. Don's is a small, unassuming place with enough room for maybe three customers by pandemic standards, five or six comfortably otherwise. The largest wall is devoted to jerky - many and varied types of jerky. Im no jerky connoisseur, but lots of meats, flavors and heat levels. And they have bear jerky - you just gotta respect that, right? I wish I had gotten some, but decided to just try the steak my first time around. They also offer some smoked cheeses and house made summer sausage (found these on the website) and specialty items. The jalapeno poppers caught my eye, but again, I just got steaks.

For a very reasonable price, I picked up steaks for four adults and two finicky kid eaters. I live about 20 mins from Don's and let me tell you it was, without question, worth the effort. Two, eight ounce filets, beautifully marbled, a gorgeous pound of prime ribeye, that I wound up saving for another day and 2.25 pound top sirloin. To my surprise,, they declined to give me an eight ounce portion of the sirloin, so I bought the full steak and cut it into three portions. That's not a complaint, the prices were reasonable and sirloin, especially a good one is a damn fine steak, it was just more meat than I originally came to get ;)

The meal was a success. All the steaks were served and consumed to rave reviews with no leftovers. If your looking for a butcher, tired of supermarket fare or looking to get something for a special occasion and are anywhere near Howe, TX - give Don's Smokehouse a try. I'm headed back soon with high expectations. Will update with reaults

I was at a gun show in Mesquite,Texas on Saturday 1/8/22….And the cutest little young lady offered me a sample of Jerky. Now I wasn’t going to try it because my uncle is by far the very best on a smoker so I felt I would be wasting my time. But I figured what the heck….And omg I must say this was the very best jerky I have ever eaten. Needless to say I have been all over the website checking things out. And I figured I will take a road trip to old Howe, Tx because even though I am the queen of online shopping. I must see this place up close an in person. I pray that the good Lord continues to bless you I know your Father is smiling down on you saying well done my son……And yes I read the story It warmed my heart….. So anyways I’m rambling now. Thank you for what you do my tastebuds thank you and hope to see you sooner than later. I bought about 6 jerkys you ran out of the bear so I’m coming to get...

I really like this place. They have top notch customer service and their jerky taste like heaven in the mouth. Many different flavors that all taste good.

Here's a review of the flavors I've tried XXX Hot - Very good for hot food lovers. Imagine just the right heat that still has flavor.

Turkey - It's nice and tender. Flavor is very comfortable in the mouth. Great for kids and all other ages.

Pepper Steak - Your classic jerky. Flavor is awesome and get this: it doesn't pull your teeth our when you take a bite like other jerky brands if you know what I mean.

Jalapeno & Cheddar - Your classic jerky again and has excellent flavor. Very mouth watering when I'm near it
