Super appreciate the Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center! Thankfully we hadn't needed them before but when we had a momma skunk in our yard in physical distress yesterday while her baby frantically tried to help her, one call to CWCC and Ruby was on scene within an hour to help momma & baby. Unfortunately, baby ran away yesterday. Today we spotted the baby who was now the one in distress, we contacted Ruby & she was back here within 30 min to help the baby. It turns out the baby was a 5 week old female, and sadly they were both inadvertently poisoned by mouse poison a neighbor put out in the wood line for rodent control. It was a sad couple of days but it helped that Ruby was so helpful & informative. She even followed up with us on the unfortunate outcome of momma & baby. We will now make CWCC part of our conversations with friends & neighbors and include them in our monetary donations when we can. We visited their website and I encourage everyone to do the same! So much helpful information! They also have a link on their website for a Wishlist on Amazon and Chewy to help care for the animals...
Read moreWe found an orphaned baby squirrel in our neighborhood that was following us on our walk. We were able to secure him but everywhere we contacted was full or couldn't take him in at the time.
When we contacted Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center, Carolyn reached out to us and was very helpful with questions and suggestions as we ruled out things like being able to reunite him with his mother (who had passed away on the sidewalk near where the baby was staying each night) or other rehabilitators in the area.
Ultimately she offered to take him in if we could transport him to her, and we did just that. When we got there, the way she handled him and talked to us about him as she examined him put us at peace that she knew what she was doing. She offered to text us updates here and there and had 2 other baby squirrels he would get to be with after his quarantine period. We felt really great about the situation.
This was our first time rescuing a baby squirrel and we had no idea what we were doing, so we were very happy to find this center and meet Carolyn, she was awesome! We highly...
Read more5 New Born Endangered Cotton Tail Rabbits were found and attacked by our dogs. We brought the rabbits to her. The lady we talked to was so nice and cared so much about animals. The Conservation is going to Rehabilitate the baby rabbits. The Conservation also doesn't let the public in their establishment to protect the animals from being harmed or scared. We did meet her and she checked the babies right there, in front of the gate. Just ONE had a chunk of it's ear missing. They weren't too starved but they were getting there. They were also a little dehydrated as well. She put them in a protective animal carry case. I filled out a form and watched the babies be taken to their little foster home. We didn't want to separate them from their momma, but our dogs were going to kill them or they were going to starve to death if we didn't find professional help for them. We're also kind of sad the momma wont be able to tell her babies good bye. But at least they are SAVED and...
