Edit 4: Finally got Elite to understand what a crock of crap Peak Payment Solutions is and they called Peak and dealt with it. Switching it back to 5 stars because the gym truly is awesome. They just need to ditch the a holes managing contracts. Edit 3: If they’re still using Peak Payments to handle their contracts, don’t do it. I promise you’ll regret it when it comes time to move or cancel. I’ve been lied to for months saying if I just pay one more month, that’s it. Taking legal action now because I’ve paid two more “one more time”’s and they keep trying to charge my credit card.
Edit 2: Even more hassle with Peak Payment. If you see this and they aren’t being cooperative, please report Peak Payment to the Attorney General as that helps build the case against them. It’s sad to see the best gym in the area spoiled by choice of payment provider.
Edit: took off two stars for the membership payment service they use - Peak Payments. They’re awful to work with and don’t honor your contract. I was told twice on the phone after my contract was up that my membership was cancelled, just pay the remainder and it’ll end. Then got billed again. Now they’re saying it’ll end in another month and it wasn’t cancelled because they didn’t have the request in writing. Every time I have to waste time on them, I’ll nick another star.
Original review: I was intimidated looking at the pics and reviews of super-ripped folks vs myself never having been a regular at a gym and needing (as my wife put it) to convert some fluff to tuff. The seriousness of the clientele, the gym’s brand attitude of not going halfway and the high reviews are exactly why I chose Elite. Why go to a gym without any examples of what I’m aiming for? I signed up and have been going (with training) for a while now. Turns out it’s owned and run by some great folks who really have your back. Big win in my book!
This is a heck of a find. Almost hate to share bc I don’t...
Read moreThis gym is the best of "all" worlds. Usually, the phrase "hardcore gym" elicits images of juice-heads and dirty, half-broken equipment and slamming plates. Elite Fitness is a gym I'd categorize as a "real" hardcore gym, but for all for all the right reasons-
-Engaging owners and staff committed to their own fitness as well as that of their clients and members. This is not some investment for them- it's their lifestyle and they are 100% committed to helping others improve and transform.
-Equipment; all the important basics: Squat/ power racks, bars, bells, etc-- kept CLEAN and in working order (hard to find these days in any gym)-- as well as great new cardio and weight machine gear. Plenty to go around and rarely crowded.
-Mutual respect and support between members and staff. No intimidation or B.S. Show up and work out without being bothered.
-This is a bodybuilder's gym, AND an "everyman's" gym for anyone looking to improve without being judged. If you want advice, you'll get honest advice or assistance.
-The outdoor and "crossfit" type stuff is here, too. Bars, tires, chains, sleds and other conditioning gear.
-24-hour access- something lacking in many serious gyms, but at Elite Fitness it's included in your membership.
-Reasonably and fairly priced. And NO CONTRACTS. There are other decent options in the area, but they all require contracts that are harder to get out of than a Klingon blood-feud. Seriously- try to get out of a contract at Peak Fitness or Gold's Gym (it's easier to fake your own death).
In conclusion, this gym was the extra "bump" I needed to take control of my fitness and make serious progress. Many of us, myself included, have had a myriad of gym memberships and home DVD's, but the equipment and atmosphere at Elite made the...

I tried several gyms in the Charlotte area and ended up choosing Elite Fitness. To sum it up: Elite Fitness meets my requirements for a gym and has the best combination of equipment, cardio, and affordability.
The biggest perk of this gym is that there is a lot of high quality equipment. You'll always get a great workout here. No question there.
I feel motivated when I go here. The gym has a motivational atmosphere. A lot of people here push themselves hard. It causes me to push myself harder and then I'm causing someone else to push harder too. It's a cycle!
Another perk is the gym is open 24 hours. Now would I go to the gym at 2 AM in the morning? 99.999% of the time the answer is no. BUT it's nice not having to worry about when the gym will close while you're there!
This gym hasn't felt overwhelmingly crowded even during typical peak hours. Your mileage may vary here depending on what you want to do.
Temperature wise: The gym feels comfortable and doesn't feel too cold or hot to me. Keep in mind that this review was written while it's cold outside. Can't speak for how it is during the summer.
One more thought: This gym COULD be a fit for a wide range of goals that people may have. My recommendation is to add this gym to your list of gyms to try. Do try a lot of other gyms to make sure you've chosen the best fit for yourself. Finally, I highly recommend finding a gym that is no more than a 10-15 minute drive from where you live if possible. That way, it won't be a hassle for you to go every time and you'll feel more motivated to go. At least that has been...
