Rented the lodge for a wedding last year and the lack of communication was horrendous. First, they sold the date by the time I arrived at the scheduled tour. Another date had to be chosen. The most embarrassing part was when I and the wedding party were turned away at the gate for the rehearsal. They sold the venue for that date too, without even calling me to cancel the rehearsal. On the wedding day, tables and chairs were not placed where I documented. Everything had to be redone. They claim to have a same day setup. No one can come the day before to prepare or leave things overnight from their event. If that's the case, why were chairs from another event already outside? We had to wait to setup our things. Do not rent this venue for any important occasion that requires extensive planning. They will not communicate on any changes and have a nonchalant attitude about their lack of professionalism. It was not a pleasurable experience. The day was stressful for no reason. Just spend the extra money elsewhere. The bargain is not...
Read moreThis seems to be a nice state park. We certainly enjoyed our stay. The park was clean. The bath houses were clean and well maintained. There was hiking and a nice Japanese garden area. It has a beautiful setting. Now for the negative; they only have 15 full hookup sites. The sites themselves are not well maintained by the staff or camp host. There was an abundance of poison ivy, oak and Virginia creeper right up on the camp sites and the edges of trails. I understand, you are in the woods, but when people are allergic to it, it can feel confining. The sites were difficult to back in to because the were not on a slant and the edges of the road were deteriorating or just a 4"-5" drop off, which can effect your maneuverability. I am certainly not bashing Monte Sano, we had a good time and will go back in the future. It has many positives, but it also has its...
Read moreWe stayed in cabin 8 which is dog friendly. Was pleasantly surprised to find that they had 2 dog bowls placed for us. A back patio with fire pit and picnic table. Kitchen had everything we needed including pots and pans, dishes and utensils. They even had an ironing board and iron. The fireplace was cozy. If you like rustic, you will love this. Fresh towels, soaps, shampoo and lotion in the bathroom. Clean blankets for both beds which were surprisingly comfortable. The general store Carrie's supplies, wood and some food products. The only negative I have is the lighting inside was very dim. Heat and air conditioning worked great. Bring your bikes and a couple chairs to sit on...
