On Sunday, January 26, 2025 around 10AM, my partner & I went to Oakwood Farmers Market. It was my first time going. My partner told me about it and we went for plantains. We got four items and spent $25. They are fairly priced, great selection, and vegan meat options are amazing! There were some items that were out of stock; however, it was the okay. I can respect the time that it takes to wait on a truck. I truly enjoyed my first time UNTIL we got to the cash register. The cashier (not sure of her name, has beautiful dreads though.) She did not acknowledge us when we got to the register - she was on her phone. I asked what ingredients were in the seamoss drink & if there was any sugar she said she believes there was; did not ask the staff to confirm. She had us waiting over three minutes to ring us up because she was on her phone laughing and texting. She said twice, âexcuse meâ. It was very unfortunate to receive this type of service from a farmers market that should stand out based on being a local business with a...
Read moreOakwood is one of my favorite stores. They have excellent produce and sell hard-to-come-by veggie meats such as FriChik or Dinner Roast. For the right person, Oakwood is an essential resource for vegetarian foods. They also have an absolutely beautiful outdoor area to enjoy their fresh prepared delicious vegetarian foods. When weather permits you can't find a lovelier place for a luncheon.
Inflation has really hurt the Loma Linda Brand's Traditions like Big Franks and Skallops, and despite it becoming downright prohibitively expensive to continue on as staple proteins for many families Oakwood still provides these classic foods while they have sadly been phased out of most grocery retailers. If you can afford it, it is a wonderful blast from the past.
Edit: No shade on Oakwood, but Loma Linda needs to be either stopped or gutted out from the inside and made to use actually healthy ingredients. By now it is disgraceful to pass off GMO foods with toxic ingredients like Red #3 as "healthy" even in moderation. That's a slippery slope with poisonous substances. And many people DO NOT EAT...
Read moreBy far the worst experience there. Two young girls that work there were very disrespectful and their attitude was horrendous. Plus the mgr wasnât there. I have never been to an establishment where a supervisor or someone is in charge wasnât there. The mgr has no phone number to reach him, which is strange also. Plus no one answers the phone. With bad customer service, expensive prices, rotten fruit and unsanitary workers (workers in the food area drinking behind the counter and just sitting around)âŚ.I would avoid this place. I...
