I came to Creekside at Meridian Hills in 2017 when it was The Viewpoint. I was there just shy of three years. I watched it grow and develop under new ownership. Maintenance: When I first moved in, I'm pretty sure MJ was the ONLY maintenance man. As you can imagine, maintenance was horrible. There's no way one man can answer all those calls. As Radco took over, maintenance improved. Instead of having just this one guy get to me possibly months after I made my initial request, I'd get a response within days or hours depending on the situation. It took maybe 3 days after my request to get my a/c fixed in the sweltering heat in Summer 2019.
Management: Management has improved over time. Carolina was a sleaze ball. I'm pretty sure she was stealing money orders. I paid December 2017 THREE TIMES! I never got a credit for that. I lost my tickets. So it was my loss. She was terrible. She was fired. Natasha replaced her. Natasha was understanding and able to work with you. All you had to do was talk to her and things would get done. Unfortunately, Carolina left a huge mess Natasha could clean. They did away with her. Nate was willing to work with you IF and only IF you could provide documentation for your requests. I had to prove my MIL died. I had to prove I was in a bad situation. He wanted documentation for absolutely everything. He was VERY BAD at communication. While he wanted documentation from you for absolutely everything. He wasn't filing your documentation so when he left you were screwed. Jordan is very understanding. She's reasonable. She'll listen to you. She makes things happen. She works for you. Don't ever do her wrong. She's also SUPER GREAT with kids. Every time I brought my kids in the office she was playing with them, giving them candy or popsicles, toys, etc . . . They wanted to go to the office just to see her.
Leasing: Chris is great! He's very sweet. He'll do what he can. The foreign guy, I didn't catch his name but in the 3yrs I was there I have never met someone so rude and nasty. He helped me once with my children, but not for me. He helped me because he was tired of them screaming because we waited forever in the office one day to see Nate who was too busy to see us. Chris was kind and helped us instead.
Neighbors: The neighborhood has changed over the years. It started out really violent with a lot of crime. Radco installed cameras and lighting. They hired overnight security to watch the grounds. Crime went down. While basic crime went down, I watched several of my neighbors move in and out due to domestic violence. A lot of it goes on. So, if you move here just watch out for your neighbor. She may need help. There are A LOT of kids. Mostly teens and tots. If you don't like kids, don't move here. There are also a lot of animals. Many have been snuck in. STAY OFF THE GRASS UNLESS YOU WANT POOP ON YOUR SHOES!!!!
Grounds: Beautiful landscape. A Brand new playground replaced the old graffiti stricken, partially melted playground. A Bark Park was put in. A fitness center was in the works. A soccer field replaced the old torn up tennis court. The land where they played soccer before the court became a volley ball court. There are a lot of improvements there. Also, it's by the woods. You have to watch out for wild life. One night I was taking out the trash and a Trash Panda (raccoon) jumped out at me. I was terrified. Another time, I was walking home from work and buck darted first toward me, then thankfully away from me. MOSQUITO HELL. Wasps, haven. The wasps love the wood. They're everywhere!
Apartment: I can't say too much on the apartment itself. I moved in as an urgent move in. My place was a quick repair plaster job. Terrible. But again, under the old company. It was never remodeled by Radco They did give me the option but it would cost too much. It was basically falling apart from where a previous tenant beat holes everywhere.
Laundry: There is a laundry center on site. It's almost ALWAYS GROSS. It's expensive. Go To JUMP LAUNDRY on 71st & Michigan...
Read moreUnfortunately, we have lived here far too long. If I could give negative numbers as a rating I would. A simple 1 star is not nearly enough. It is currently under new management, but if often times is. Previous management left 200 units without air conditioning for two months in July and August while the average was 92°. At one point we also had horrible leaking in our kitchen which led to a portion of the ceiling caving in, also creating black mold. That took 4 months of calling to get fixed. Maintenance was always sent out, but they would say they needed to go get something only to never return. There was another instance where we called to get our oven fixed, upon the maintenance man leaving I began smelling burning. I got up to go to the kitchen to see that the stove was on, and the rings were bright orange and the oven door was still off. Keep in mind he had left and told me to have a nice day. I contacted the office to let them know, so our door could be put back on, but I was met with a very unnecessary attitude and told, "Maybe he wasn't finished" after informing that he stated he was finished and wished me a nice day. They never sent anyone out despite what I had said. Despite new management I very highly suggest not living here even as a last resort. You will more than likely be surrounded by couples who have screaming matches every other day, if not every day multiple times a day. Where I'm located there is a newly moved in couple who argues from their apartment to the hallway, to outside. When I say every other day, if not everyday, I genuinely mean that. There's a father and daughter also in the building. The daughter caused some drama which led to 6 people arriving to fight her. The mased the entirety of the hallway, and someone even attempted to open our door during the commotion. Before I forget, we've had a disgusting furnace since we moved in. Every now and then it makes a loud booming noise as if someone above us dropping two bowling balls on the floor. Even if the apartment you view appear nice, and there's fresh new paint on the buildings it is sure to fall apart and it will take 2 to 4 months for it to be "fixed", only for it to break down again in a week. You can do better. This isn't worth it.
TLDR; This place is absolutely garbage. They just put fresh paint on the outside to make it seem like it isn't. You can do better, don't move here.
PS: In their response they offer their phone number, but they never answer. I attempted to call two days in a row last week about their lock changing guys who kept creating small fires in the mulch by throwing their LIT cigarettes (6 total) into it after they were finished with them. You can't speak about new management when you still don't answer the phone or have voice-mail box set up, just like previous management.
UPDATE 06/09/2021: Our air conditioning has not been working for over a month now. I'm afraid it will be the same as last year and we will go nearly the entire summer (last year we went too months JUL/AUG) without any air conditioning(AC). Now there is a leak in the room where our washer and dryer reside, which I presume will not be fixed any time soon either which will lead to another mold/mildew situation due to the humidity in our apartment. No matter what these obviously fake, random positive reviews say please do not move here. A few days ago, someone was shot in front of my building right outside of my window. Today there was loud argument from people living in the building across from us which lead to someone pulling out a gun. Additionally, as stated by my sister two kids have gone missing from over here.. For your health and safety do not move here unless you enjoy your apartment being 85-95 degrees with 90% humidity, and multiple daily LOUD arguments from neighbour's that lead to guns being drawn or someone actually being shot.
UPDATE 06/25/2021: Our air conditioning is now fixed, not only that a company was called in to completely replace the disgusting furnace AND water heater in...
Read moreI began a lease with Ashford Meridian Hills sometime between late March or early April. It's difficult to remember exactly when because I don't recall my time here by the passing of days, but by the myriad of maintenance requests and services ignored by the staff.
Let's begin: After signing the lease, the agent handling my contract entered my residence at an address that was not the unit I was living in. Leasing agent lost my move-in checklist of minor service requests. After correcting the records with the correct address, the move-in checklist was never addressed again. Leasing agent left the company shortly after, making any follow-up on work and correspondence she was involved with difficult. A ceiling leak in the bathroom mid-Jun. The leak eventually stopped and the ceiling stucco was ruptured. The request to repair this was ignored and remains ruptured to this day. Maintenance crew replaced AC units in mid-July. They did not connect the coolant lines. Spent several days north of 80 degrees in an apartment unit that does not have AC. According to their emergency maintenance line, this constitutes an emergency. However, to connect coolant lines, they have to bring on specific contractors. Those contracts are NOT 24/7, and only reachable within normal business hours. What this means is, depending on the problem with the unit, your "emergency situation" as defined by their contact line cannot be immediately resolved. Another leak occured, due to the lack of connected coolant lines. The door to the utility closet is water-stained and warped. On-site maintenance crew was able to refill the coolant in the AC unit, which provided temporary relief. The unit had a coolant leak that they could not fix because they were not authorized to service the AC unit without voiding a warranty. Because of the leak, AC unit was never able to consistently provide cool air. Blamed by the leasing office for an inability to access the unit because I used the lock-slide chain while I was home or sleeping, and threatened to have the chain cut to gain entry. Another leak occurred mid-September. Had to leave the unit to go to work and left a bucket out to catch the water and by the time I came back, the leak had stopped. There was no indication of a visit by anyone in the maintenance staff. The ceiling is dropping where this leak took place. I made attempts to follow-up with the leasing office to assess the potential of follow-up work in the event of water damage, mold, or other consequential problems. Met with the office to speak with Charles Mamon in person to discuss the concern. There has been no follow-up. Patio door was unable to lock. Contacted emergency line. They were responsive, but I had fixed the problem on my own by the time they called me. Dealing with another leak tonight. Three and a half hours ago I woke up to find my hallway flooded. Water is dripping from the ceiling of the utility closet, down into my food pantry, and from under my hallway closet. I have been contacting the emergency line in 20-30 min intervals, and have not yet received an answer.
All in all, four separate water leaks, inoperable A/C, a totally disregarded move-in checklist, and a bad lock on my patio door.
The biggest problem Ashford Meridian Hills appears to have is an utterly unresponsive, uncommunicative, and unwilling leasing staff and maintenance crew. I spoke with Charles Mamon in mid-september, and another property management assistant about what appears to be a lack of accountability and record keeping.
For my employment, I speak with contractors and utility professionals. We make use of a system to record who gets what job, when they are assigned that job, when that job changes hands or is delayed, and most importantly, a documented policy of a response time.
This office does not appear to have...
