I had to go with my mother to place our dogs at the shelter for a week. They were not understanding of our situation at all and were rude and judgmental through the entire interaction. Treating us as if we were bringing in violent dogs or as if we had offended them with our existence. It was an extremely unwelcoming visit, i pray they treat my dogs with more respect they did us. Chad’s mood was very inconsistent and very unwelcoming. he was not a fan of allowing the children to say goodbye to their first dog and continued to cut myself and my mother off in the conversations. we could barely get a word in. They refused to send the toys our dogs are attached to with them. The entire process was very uncomfortable and i received many unwelcoming stares from the other female staff. this was 45 minutes before they closed and made it very clear they were only worried about a paycheck and getting off right at 5:30. we were out by 5:25. As judgmental as they were, I could not help but think they were judging my dog or myself because he is a pittbull.

Absolutely love this shelter! I just started volunteering here and have been very impressed with the care and cleanliness kept in mind for the animals here. I have only worked with the cats, but assume the same can be said for the dog side. After volunteering and going to many shelters, I can confidently say this is the cleanest, most organized shelter I’ve ever been to. It’s never fun to see animals in shelters instead of homes, but ICAC does such a great job giving their animals a lot of space to explore and keeping their enclosures clean and safe for the animals. Seeing the high volume of volunteers makes me happy as well since the full time staff is small, it’s comforting to know the volunteers give the animals a lot of attention so staff can hold down the fort and do everything they need to keep the shelter running.

We adopted a lovely little calico kitten from here today, and we had a wonderful experience. The staff were very responsible and guided us through a three-step adoption process. The first step was filling out an application, during which the staff took the initiative to confirm with our landlord whether pets were allowed. The second step was scheduling a meeting to interact closely with the cats and choose the one we felt a connection with. Finally, the third step was bringing our new friend home. The time given between the steps allowed us to thoroughly consider the adoption decision, rather than making an impulsive choice. All the cats at the shelter seemed to be in great condition, and we're so happy to welcome this little one into our home. Thank you for the great experience.

When an animal is surrendered by an owner who got it from an ethical breeder who is willing to take the animal back and has a contract with the previous owner, the breeder is still the legal owner of that animal and the animal must be returned to the breeder. When a shelter refuses to return the animal to the rightful owner it shows that they are an unethical shelter who puts profits above the animals it claims to care about. When stating that the shelter is full and still holds the animal hostage even when the breeder has submitted an application, rescues have reached out and others in the community have tried to reach out and been stonewalled by the shelter, when the animal should have been returned to the breeder without question, it is selfish and unethical. That spot should be used for an animal who actually needs a home, and isn’t able to because the shelter is holding hostage an animal who already has a home! The breeder has all documentation and records of that animal and the original contract between the previous owner and the breeders. A lawsuit should be filed not only against the previous owner for breech of contract, but against the shelter for refusal to return the animal to the rightful owner. Shelters love to blame breeders for over crowding of shelters but when an ethical breeder request their own animal back due to breech of contract and the shelter fails to comply, the issue is the shelter, not ethical breeders who never want to see their animals in shelters! Back yard breeders don’t care where their animals end up, but an ethical breeder does everything in their power to make sure their animals never end up in a shelter. Stop wasting resources on animals who have homes and people who love them. You have shut down rescues and the breeder from getting the dog back. Stone walling will not prevent them from getting the dog back, it will ensure a law suit is opened against the shelter which does not help any of the animals in the shelter who need help. No person should adopt from or donate to a shelter who refuses to practice ethically and work with ethical breeders to keep their dogs out of shelters. If a shelter refuses to acknowledge and follow a contract between a breeder and person who surrendered the dog when presented with it, why do they expect people who adopt from them to respect and follow the shelters contracts? Either way this shelter is unethical, putting profits above the animals well being. The situation could have been rectified immediately when the breeder found out and contacted the shelter. Instead the shelter has shown that they are unethical and prioritize profits over...

We've adopted 3 kitties over all from this shelter and every time our experience has been phenomenal. The fact that they come vaccinated, fixed and chipped all for only $75 is a steal of a deal. AND you get one free vet visit. What more could you ask for? One time our cat got out and brought here and they updated her rabies vaccination for me and made picking her back up extremely easy. People that complain about the "jerk" at the front desk need to realize that he is probably consistently overwhelmed by both the volume of animals that come through here as well as the number of people that truly shouldn't have animals and yet think they "deserve" to be able to adopt. And just because he doesn't smile and give out niceties doesn't mean he isn't professional and damn good at his job. Also, people that complain about the process need to recognize that they state very explicitly on their website the steps one needs to go through to be able to adopt from here. With any reputable breeder there would be a specific process to go through as well. One that would generally takes weeks or months or sometimes years before you go home with a pet. Not being able to go home with an animal the same day you fall in love with it shows that you have taken the time to ride through your emotions and ensure that you are making a good decision to take on a new and big responsibility. I trust this shelter's judgement. I think most people that are upset with them are probably the truly problematic ones that have no respect for rules or protocol and need someone else to blame when things don't...
