Iowa Surplus auctions old University of Iowa property online through sites like AllSurplus and GovDeals. I've been buying everything from cars to laptops to Iowa gear here for a couple of years now and, although it's like most auctions and some of the items can be unpredictable, they do their best to accurately describe condition and give you the opportunity to inspect items. This is also a fairly busy place at times, so they do require appointments for inspection or pickup, under most circumstances. One thing to note is that you are not allowed to test drive vehicles which are being auctioned, but you can start them. Just recently had an item which didn't end up matching the description and they had me bring it back in, looked at it and did their best to make it right. I left completely satisfied. They had zero obligation to do this since most everything is sold "as is."
