Thoma’s Meat Market — Local services in Iowa City

Excellent customer service!

This is a pretty new shop/location and I just went in for the first time on 6/19/20. Everyone was friendly and attentive and they have a broad selection of great looking cuts.

I’m looking forward to trying their house made Italian sausage this week! Their pork shoulder was priced about 30% less than the local chain supermarket too.

Update, 4/27/21:

This is now my go-to for any sort of meat in the area. Their steak burgers are great, hot dogs are better than any hot dog really has a right to be, and the brats and steaks are always excellent.

With my dad running a butcher shop for 39 years, and us processing all of our own deer, pork, and beef for my entire lifetime, I'm always happy to check out a local spot. This place does not disappoint! Phenomenal service, the kind most people are most likely unaccustomed in this day and age, and even better products. Great selection that changes daily, great staples, an assortment of delicious and ever changing brats, steaks, sausages, etc, and hands down the best natural casing wieners I've ever had. This is hands down my favorite butcher in town! Not only are they locally owned, but the team is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They can expertly cut and prepare any type of meat right on site, including our household favorite, picanha.
