Full disclosure: I'm not a student at this time. However, based on what I've heard from close family, if my plan to go back to school succeeds, I'm really hoping to spend most of my time at this campus.
From what I understand, the educators are great. The campus looks clean-though I'll say it could, maybe, use a facelift. I love the location-right on a light-rail path that goes all the way downtown and the other direction all the way to the airport. Nearby is a nature preserve between Northlake and Singley Academy that is lovely. There's a golf course nearby-which is nice for people who like golf, at least. And fast food fairly nearby, North on MacArthur, about a mile or so. Nearby housing has higher appraisal-not that most people would care, but it might give an idea of the general economic standing in the area... Ahem. ⁰
If i could change anything, it might be to increase the speed limit on the road leading from the campus, past the DART station, ending at MacArthur. It can be a bit painful to go that far and that is by car.
They have a pool that is good and open to the public at times, a baseball diamond, etc.
AND, if you want a dose of adorable, at the lake, nearest the MacArthur bridge there are turtles! Also, the occasional stork.
That said, I've heard a few negative things about some staffers, not teachers. I'm not going to share them here, at this time.
Oh! If you like geocaching, there are several...
Read moreGood campus when there to their library and they have a cafeteria with a subway and a bookshop, which has a coffee and some chips and other necessities and book basically a bookstore, and then a subway beside that they don’t really have too much to eat on the campus you probably have to go Somewhere else to eat that’s what my understanding is. I asked many people, but nobody seems to know if they have anything else to eat besides a subway, but they do have a lot of vending machines around even for a coffee machine and a bookshop has a fresh coffee if you want that bookshop is actually in a subway is actually a building, right across the library that building has multipurpose rooms registration as a huge building beside that there’s a water fountain and a lake and a golf course even though the golf course is not part of this campus seems like it, but it is a really good walk around the lake and a lot of treesplenty of parking at this campus and kids seems to be really nice. I have visited here here and there just for their library and to stop by and then it was...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at North Lake - after I became Alumni. The classes were ok when I was there. They were comparable to any community college. However, they sent back my financial aid without my knowledge and did not contact me about it. Four years after attending I had requested transcripts and found out that I had a block because the financial aid was sent back. However, it took me a month to get a chance to talk to someone that could even explain what had happened due to lack of competence in almost everyone there. Also, there whole system is automated. So if you do not live close enough to visit campus it is impossible to get anything done or to speak with anyone on the phone. I left many messages in their automated system that were never returned. Also, if you request transcripts from them it takes several weeks before they even get mailed out - not the 2 business days that the website says it take. Overall this school is subpar in every aspect. There are better options than to waste your money...
