I come out to Dallas every month, I used to stay at an Airbnb but they rented the unit out so I decided to start staying in a hotel instead in April of 2021. I've stayed here ~a dozen times since. I was going to stay here last week but then I decided to go to another hotel based on the experience I had with the front desk and I doubt I'll return. when I stayed here in March I had a red eye flight so I landed at like 6 am, I paid an early check in fee rather than booking two rooms, which was fine but when I had a similar situation with this most recent trip the front desk guy said I'd need to pay for another night, and quoted the price higher than what's on the site. I was only in Dallas for 12 hours for this trip so I didn't see why I should pay for two nights and at a higher rate so I went to another hotel. over the last year I've had mostly fine experiences staying here, the front desk staff is kinda rude but the other staff is pretty friendly. there's one (younger) guy that was at the front desk a few times when I stayed there but I can't remember his name, everyone else was pretty rude. the rooms are usually clean but there have been a few times where the rooms were kinda stuffy or had a weird smell to them, I blame the Texas weather for that. during one stay in Oct I found bugs crawling on the bed when I went to check for bed bugs. I don't know if they were bed bugs- they were too small to be fleas or ants but I asked for another room (due to the bugs) they gave me one but the front desk lady was visibly annoyed. I never noticed bugs after that but I felt like I should mention that. there have been multiple times during my stays where housekeeping just straight up walked into my room, no knocking or anything, right after I checked in, like four or five pm for no discernable reason and that creeped me out and scared the hell out of me as I was relaxing in bed. I've never used the airport shuttle, just never lined up with my schedule but when I started staying here they weren't running it due to COVID and then they started running it M-F 8-5 so I hadn't really had the chance to. the location is pretty close to the airport but closer to MacArthur/Las Colinas and it's nice that there is a Tom Thumb right up the street. also, if COVID stuff matters to you I'll mention that they weren't wearing masks or would just chin strap 'em (even during the mandates), encouraging social distancing (besides the stickers on the floor) and they didn't seem to do extra cleaning/disinfecting. honestly it seems they do the bare minimum for cleaning most of the time. I realize this is Texas and a lot of people don't care about this kind of stuff, but if you do there are other hotels that are taking extra measures. overall, the experience has been fine, not great, but fine, and I probably won't be coming back based on the last experience there and I'll be taking my business somewhere else.

The hotel itself is budget friendly, and a place to rest your head after travel and work all day. Having said that, a breakdown of my review is as follows: My room was booked and fully paid for in advance under a corporate account, so I was immediately agitated to learn upon check-in that my personal credit card would be required (and charged) a “deposit”, or I would not be given keys. Before jumping to the assumption that ALL hotels require this, no, they do not; not when the stay is less than 24 hours on a corporate account, and paid in full. Yes, most hotels will ask for a card to have on file because..after parties and all. But I stress that this was booked under a corporate account. Even so, since when do they actually withdrawal the funds upon check in? This place does, so be warned. Being a Saturday night, I’m not thrilled about waiting 3 business days for the release of that deposit. My 1st floor room greeted me with an overwhelming stench of mildew and stagnant mold. I was too tired to say anything. I dropped off my bags and returned the cart, then proceeded to move my car out of the semicircle in search of parking. I soon realized that the only area with open spaces was located in the rear of the hotel, and beyond a dark abyss. The abundance of disclaimers stating “park at your own risk” was enough incentive to wait for someone to leave. As I returned to my room, I stopped at the vending/ice machine, located behind a keyed access door. Neither my key nor another guest's key worked. We both walked back to the front desk for assistance, where the concierge was in tears, absorbed in an emotional argument on the phone, ignoring the growing line of guests behind us. She didn’t even acknowledge us. About 5 minutes later the concierge ended her call and reprogrammed my access cards, no avail. It is worth noting that there is only one ice machine in the entire hotel. The ice machine issue remained unresolved, as I was advised that maintenance would need to troubleshoot. It’s fine, ice is overrated anyway. On a positive note, my room was clean, quiet, and the king-size bed was tidy and visually appealing. However, the pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. If your deal closer is free breakfast, be advised that breakfast service doesn’t start until 7:00 am, and for those of us with early morning commitments, this is an irrelevant perk. Overall, my experience at this hotel was not awful. Likely just a stroke of bad luck, my stay may not reflect the experiences of all guests. Considering the competition in the area, I would recommend doing thorough research and comparing other hotels before making a booking. Keep in mind that personal preferences and expectations differ, so what may be bothersome to me might not be an issue for you, and vice versa.

Update 3 years later — stayed here and the quality has gone down + svc. There was hair and bugs in my bed and on the floor. The shower looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since I left 3 yrs ago. The tall Front desk lady asked me for my esa/service animal paperwork which is illegal, bc it doesn’t exist like that. It’s a medical prescription, but I showed her the document anyway and will be filing a complaint. Safety 10/10 - right across the street from the ritz Carlton, no issues with your vehicles or etc. breakfast still has Rice Krispies and oatmeal packets. OJ and juices taste very watered down. So sad this place has gone bad, pls fix it. This was a hidden gem. Old review: I am so happy I choose this place! I needed to come to Dallas for business last minute and was hoping this place was at least decent. It exceeded my expectations. The lady at the front desk was sooooo sweet and personable. Thank you ma’am! Hope your fur baby is well!! Mine is adjusting just fine and full of energy. The room was nice! It was big, pretty quiet (you’ll hear hotel room doors open/close, that’s all). I wouldn’t come here if you’re planning on a freakneak night because you do hear what’s going on in the rooms when walking down the hallway, butttt not so much. So it’s doable. Just use your inside voice fr. Breakfast was nice! Hot breakfast, make your own pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, juices, rice Krispy treats (YEA I SAID IT LOL and i loved that). Checking out with the manager was a breeze! Most of all i love how I didn’t feel judged. I walked my dog looking a MESS and each time they just smiled at me at the desk and continued their business. I like this. You guys have a great team and really set the standards for a nice hotel, affordable and great customer service!!! Oh the bathroom mirror is to DIE FORRR!!!! You will get the best photos of your LIFE there!

Stayed at this hotel because of my teenage daughter's hockey camp. Decent pictures, decent rate, close to the rink she was playing at. Our room was on the bottom floor right in the middle of the hotel. Keys didn't work, so walked back got another set of keys was told not to have it near the phone because it could mess up the key okay whatever.... again no working key. Walked back got another key it works YAY! Get into room get hit with the smell of mildew... I thought okay maybe just turn on the AC its humid it's just super humid in Texas. Woke up bright and early for the breakfast. Guess whaaaaat? Bread, Toaster, Yogurt, and some apple juice I think there was hot water and coffee so forget breakfast. Got back pretty late (keys didn't work again x2) and of course we get the upstairs neighbors that have the ten kids that are running jumping and bringing down the house at 11pm. I was trying to be kind maybe they will go to sleep soon.... at midnight I called the front desk and the woman was on her cell phone while trying to talk to me so between the two conversations I was a little irritated and finally they went to bed. Next day returned from a day of hockey (failed room key x1) and we are faced with ANT's yep ants all over my daughters back pack. So they come they spray and they offer a room change but it would be further from the front desk and the luck we are having with the keys I will survive ant killer spray smell we had already had a sleepless night. So last evening at this awful hotel... A man in a robe just awful human I will describe this human as mentally unstable all day just saying awful things about my daughter and what she is wearing to the pool. I tell hotel staff they do nothing. So he continues and I no longer feel safe in this hotel. My daughter and I are in our room while this man begins to harass another guest and his family. Finally we call the police and the man is arrested for flashing people. Yes the man was naked under that robe. We feel unsafe and plan to go to another hotel for the night. Management may or may not give any monies back. That was my response. I asked them to talk to that guest all day but now that he is being arrested you are concerned enough to say sorry. Oh yeah after the man was arrested went back to my room and guess what??? the key didn't work so i had to see these guys 3 more times before I could go back to my room and secure my daughter and myself in the room. It was the worst stay. It looks nice in the photos but truly HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS would have been way better...
