Fox vs King, handling vs comfort, pros cons and surprises. lots to go over with this head to head from the top shock manufacturers in the world. here's some insight to how both approached shock tuning for the Ford Bronco.

Ordered 6112, 5100 and control arms for my truck.

Everything was in stock and confirmed over the phone with Shock surplus. I received the shocks and struts with no tracking information or anything for the control arms. I gave it a few days assuming it was shippig from another location. I received randomly a package that I was luckily home for due to signature delivery. The packing slip matched the part number for the control arms. I was going to take everything to the shop for installation. Luckily I opened the package to discover Ram rear coil spring. So not even close to the correct order.

I called and left a voicemail, then sent an email for continuity’s sake. I have yet to receive anything from Shocks Surplus on the issue. I called again and spoke with an employee, they said the Upper Control Arms(UCAs) were not in stock. Which contradicted what I was told over a week prior as well as what their website stated.

Still nothing from them. Not a label for the wrong part, not tracking for the upper control arms.

It has been weeks since the order with no return correspondence from Shocks Surplus. I can’t even return their incorrect product because a return email for an error/s on their end.

If this isn’t resolved before the end of the week I’ll have to file a dispute with my credit card company.

Obviously I would never do business with Shocks Surplus again.

Edit: After posting this review I was contacted by Shock Surplus. They informed me how the product I choose and appeared in stock was actually drop shipped from the manufacture and not the shipping department of Shock Surplus.

I wish it didn’t take a negative review to induce a hasty response from the owner, instead of the email and phone calls.(person who answered the phone was a phenomenal person and very nice)

I was eventually emailed a return label for the incorrect part sent by the manufacturer and shipped the correct part. Fit was as described by Shock surplus on their YouTube platform.

Nick helped with ensuring I got what I needed and informed me of the very limited staff with what I can only assume is a very...

Shock Surplus Review for my 2017 Toyota 4R Off-Road Premium suspension upgrade. I want to start off with that I communicated with SS via email and all of the communication was clear and concise. They asked all of the pertinent questions that helped us get to the final decision about what suspension components were ideal for my use of my 4R.

Their suggestions were in line with my research of suspensions, so I placed my order. They were forth coming about potential delays in certain products, but in the end all of my suspension components arrived earlier than expected. I delayed my review until I was able to install my suspension components and actually use them in the real world.

I recently returned from Buena Vista & Ouray, CO where I evaluated my 4R over weighted down road use and several off-road trails. The suspension that I selected for my personal needs performed excellent. I was able to dial in my suspension based off how I was using it at the time. I always felt that it was "planted" to the roadway while traveling with my family & dogs to get to my destination. Once I got to my destination, the weight of my 4R got lighter but it still performed excellent while driving on Tin Cup, Mt. Princeton, Poughkeepsie Gulch to name a few.

I replaced my entire suspension on my 4R ORP from a 2" spacer lift with Bilstein Shocks and stock springs. I upgraded my suspension to the following: -Fox 2.5 Factory Series Coilovers w/ DSC Reservoir Front Pair for 2009- 2021 Toyota 4Runner 4WD RWD w/0-3" lift w/UCA Fox 2.5 Factory Series Shocks w/ DSC Reservoir Rear Pair for 2003- 2021 Toyota 4Runner 4WD RWD -Icon 2" Lift Rear Coil Spring Kit for 2003-2022 Toyota 4Runner w/2" lift -Specialty SPC Adjustable Control Arm Kit 25480 -Eibach Coil Springs 14" Length x 3" Inner Diameter x 700 lbs (2 x 1600.300.0700S) -SuperSpring SumoSpring 1400 lb Capacity at 50% for 5th Gen 4Runner (SSR-623-40)

Shock Surplus employees were very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions during and after I installed my suspension components. I would not hesitate to use them again for any future...

I just placed a 2'' lift kit order for my Toyota Tacoma. I would like to say customer service from Nick and Steve has been one of the best experiences I have ever had interacting with a vendor.

Nick has an infinite amount of patience and helped me learn a ton about the options and my truck. I have an email chain with 20+ back and forth emails with Nick where in every single exchange he was friendly, timely, and provided all the clarification I needed to lift the front of the truck. Nick helped me decide on a set that was best for my personal needs and I'm super grateful for his help.

I called today to order the parts and spoke with Steve. He was also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the parts. Steve helped me compare options for lifting the rear and helped me feel even more comfortable with the kit I got. He even shared his own experience using a similar lift kit to give me an idea of how it will settle in over time.

Talking to both Nick and Steve, I never felt pressured to buy something more than I needed. The entire time they helped look at available options and select something that was a great option for me and not just the most expensive one.

I have been researching information and comparing options for about 2 months. There is so much conflicting (and straight up wrong) information in the forums that it makes really hard to navigate. The content that you guys put out on YouTube and your customer service is the best way I found to get truly valuable information. I have other friends looking at lifting their Toyotas and I have already told to stop looking anywhere and come directly to you guys.

Nick/Steve - Thank you so much for all your help, answering all my questions (even the ones I asked more than once), and for the friendly and enjoyable experience. I don't think I've ever smiled this big after spending $2k+...
