A Magical Private Ride We’ll Never Forget! We booked the sunset horseback riding tour at Jurutungo Farms for our family of four (two adults, two teens), and it was hands down one of the most magical experiences we've ever had. It started at Ceiba Tree Park where, at first, we were a little uncertain—we were the only ones there waiting, and right at 5pm, we found ourselves wondering, “Did we just get scammed?”

But just then, like something out of a fairy tale, we spotted a woman leading four beautiful horses down the road toward us—and we realized we had a private tour! Talk about an unforgettable entrance.

Each of us was paired with a horse based on size and temperament, and after a quick, helpful demo, we saddled up and set off. The tour itself was incredible: about 90 minutes of riding along a quiet beach, into the shallow water, and back again, all at sunset. Our guide was fantastic—friendly, calming, and incredibly intuitive about when to chat and when to let us soak in the moment. She even took photos and videos along the way, including some hilarious and totally charming horse selfies that we’ll treasure forever.

A few helpful notes if you’re considering this tour:

No experience necessary – None of us are seasoned riders, and that was totally fine. Confidence is key. The horses generally follow the guide but do have minds of their own, so stay calm and assertive and you’ll have a great time. Don’t stress the outfit too much – The ad suggested pants and closed-toe shoes, but we were all in shorts and strap sandals, which turned out perfect. It got warm, we got wet, and we had zero regrets. Is it worth it? – Absolutely. This was the most immersive and relaxed riding experience we’ve ever had. Peaceful, scenic, personal, and full of charm. Thank you to Jurutungo Farms and our wonderful guide for an...

We had the best time on our sunset tour with Kristi and Jimmy! We loved meeting all of the rescued horses (I got to ride Casper), chatted and learned some things about the island as we went, and got to give our horses a well deserved treat at the end. Half way through we stopped and Jimmy took some great photos of the two of us, and Kristi snapped some photos as we rode. We are beginner level riders and I was a little nervous, but with some helpful instruction felt confident riding. The horses on Vieques are typically small, and that meant one of us was slightly over the weight limit for the majority of tours on the island. I talked with Kristi before booking, and she let us know they did have a few larger horses that would be able to accommodate us. I loved the idea of supporting a rescue, so I’m so glad we were able to ride with Jurutungo! Some tips: Do wear long pants! We were lucky enough to have beautiful calm weather with no wind, but that means mosquitos! You will also encounter a little brush along the trails. It will be dark when you return from the trail, so scheduling a cab or ride to pick you up in advance would be ideal. Use a wrist strap, lanyard, or anything to secure your phone to your person while you ride/take photos. If you get there early, you can spend a few minutes visiting the mighty Ceiba tree.

Thank y’all for a great tour and we look forward to visiting the...

A week ago today my boyfriend and I were on the most beautiful horseback riding tour in Vieques. I have been horseback riding while in Aruba, Mexico and Dominican Republlic and the tour with Kalina and Carlito has been the by far, the best yet! Everything from the scenery, the well-trained horses and Kalina and Carlito's company. It is clear how much they love their horses and know their personalities. What I appreciated most is that their horses are rescues and they have dedicated their lives to giving them a loving home, caring for them and training them. Carlito grew up training horses and it is obviously a passion for both of them. Kalina and Carlito are bilingual, they know the island and beaches and they are very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and humble. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone, including those with no riding experience. Kalina, Carlito and their horses will instantly make you feel comfortable. This tour was an a unique way to see parts of Vieques that we wouldn't have seen on our own. I was grateful for the experience and can't wait to take another tour with them during our next...
