I want to start this review by saying Cascades Manor is predatory and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I never write reviews but today is the day that I am because it needs to be said. I had a baby shower at Cascades Manor, my significant other and I decided to do a short exchange of vows amidst the baby shower as our whole family was present (no one in the family was aware of this taking place). It was a baby shower but we got charged for it as a wedding package despite not getting any of the extra items/services/time and it NOT being a wedding event, simply put. We told Wendy prior to the exchange of vows what was going to take place and she congratulated us, gave me a hug, stated how excited she was, and then asked if we needed anything in which I told her no, everything was handled and that we didn’t need anything extra. She did not mention an up charge or us not being allowed to so we were under the impression that all was fine until the end when we went to pay and were charged AN EXTRA $3000+ DOLLARS. Kirk and Wendy were extremely rude and Wendy completely changed the way she was acting towards us and was stating how we didn’t tell them despite us telling her prior. We also were charged for more plates than guests that were present and we didn’t even get the option of taking any food home. The event through and through was a baby shower as all the decorations, cakes, gifts, and games were baby shower themed and everyone there was in attendance for a baby shower. The exchange of vows and three short dances took a maximum 15 minutes of our four hour event. It honestly baffled me how we were treated by Kirk and Wendy as they made snarky comments and spoke in raised tones. NO ONE should be charged for things they didn’t receive and be treated so horribly. I have NEVER had customer service like this and definitely did not expect crying tears of sadness on a day that meant so much to me. TLDR: There are plenty of other venues you can use for a large or intimate event. Choose them. I wish we would’ve.

I have been to this venue for a number of events in Jackson, as I’m involved in many community organizations. I never chose to book for any of my own mainly because they require in house catering and I’ve never been impressed with the food. However, I’m a huge supporter of local businesses and nonprofit so leaving a negative review on them is not something I wanted to do. My experience completely took me by surprise, in the worst way.

I would leave zero stars if I could. The serving/bar staff, they were nice. Thats where my positives end. The people we worked with Kirk and Wendy were extremely difficult to deal with and my pregnant cousin was left in tears on what should’ve been one of the happiest days of her life. It seemed that everything was fine, my cousins decided to announce in the middle of their baby shower that they eloped. Since our entire family would be there. Wendy was told when we arrived 45 minutes before the baby shower while we were setting up and she was super encouraging as we are carrying things out and cleaning up we found that she completely changed her tune and they tried to charge over $3500 more than originally quoted for food and an intimate wedding package (which came with additional food, time and dozens of amenities we didn’t use or were even offered to us to use) we received nothing additional from the service we originally were invoiced and agreed to. It was truly unbelievable we took 10 minutes out of our 4 hr party to celebrate them getting married and they said “the baby shower was secondary” (ACTUAL QUOTE) where we did literally 6 baby shower games, baby shower gifts, all the decor and cake (including a gender reveal cake) and party favors were all about the baby. It was really heartbreaking and can’t believe they would berate a pregnant woman like that...
