If you want a good customer experience DO NOT go here! Absolutely the worst customer experience that I have ever had. My daughter and I walked in at 5:30 on Friday, my daughter registered and began looking at dresses. The dresses were arranged by color not sizes, so we had to dig through the racks to find her size, a young lady said "I can help you find some", my daughter told her what size and style that she was looking for, and nothing. She NEVER recommended a dress or even attempted to look for one. At 5:40 we were approached by the same young lady and she said "you might want to try on what you have, so that you can try them on before we close." WOW.. She went to the dressing room to try on the 3 dresses that she had found, while I tried to look through the racks, if you have a teenage daughter, you know that what you like isn't what they like. When she came out of the dressing room with the 2nd dress there wasn't anyone to help zip/button, so I stepped on. During this, there was another mother and her friend helping her daughter, who said "I tried to hurry here after work and they could care less and are pushing us out the door." I agreed with what she said. After my daughter tries the third dress on, I told her to come on that I would never buy anything even if she loved the dress, which she really did like the second one. There were at least 4-5 people working, instead of offering good customer experience and making a customer for life, they chose to clean floors and ignore us to make sure that we left. I am here to share the most fabulous prom dress shopping experience that my daughter and I have have ever had. My daughter is a Senior this year and had decided not to go to prom. Until the last minute when she changed her mind. I am a planner so typically we would have bought a dress right after Christmas all the details would have been planned and ready for months. So last week when she came home and told me she wanted to go after all… I had a mini heart attack. Then I went straight into planning mode. We will make this happen. A teacher I work with recommended Formal Approach. We have in the past years been to prom dress shops in 3 states. My daughters last dress was from a highly acclaimed dress shop in Lexington (I share this for a reason) while we were pleased with that experience…I had no idea how far our expectations were about to be exceeded. We stepped thru the doors at Formal Approach and was greeted by Ms. Rebecca. When I say this lady was EVERYTHING a prom dress sales associate should be… it really fails to give her all the accolades she deserves! We bought the first dress she exclaimed that she knew would be perfect on my daughter… SHE WAS RIGHT! Perfect! We bought the first dress she tried on. My daughter stated after we left that was so fun Mom I want to do it again! We had a blast, we took pics, we laughed, we made memories we will cherish! A 10/10 experience. Formal Approach is, without a doubt, the best place to shop for prom and teen board dresses! We’ve visited several stores in Knoxville, and nothing compares to the exceptional experience here. For the past two years, we’ve purchased my daughter’s prom dresses at Formal Approach, and every visit has been wonderful.

The staff, the welcoming atmosphere, the thoughtful store layout, and especially the unbeatable selection are all top-notch. Baylee, in particular, deserves a special shoutout! She was incredibly patient and attentive, truly listening to what my daughter liked and didn’t like. Baylee made thoughtful suggestions and never pressured her into considering a dress she wasn’t excited about. Instead, she created a fun and relaxed experience, even chatting with my daughter about book series they both enjoy, which helped her feel at ease. Despite assisting other customers, Baylee always made us feel valued and important.

What truly sets this store apart is the way they focus on the customer. They never rush you or make you feel like you’re just another sale. The staff is respectful and professional, especially in the dressing rooms, where they ensure everyone feels comfortable and private. These thoughtful details make such a difference.
