I have to say given the hype of the advertising, this course was disappointing. The overall layout was interesting however the quality suffered. Greens were in decent enough shape but that was about it. It was hard to discern the fairways from the rough. Most of the tee boxes were just wrecked and mostly mud and patchy grass. Fairways look like a sparsely grown first cut most areas. It was hard to tell when you're in the fairway at times and it wasn't very confident inspiring with the frequent mud patches. Ideally this place is lift clean and replace everywhere on the course but you might have a hard time finding someplace to put it because I did. The price to play initially was somewhere around the mid 80s but we were charged 70 because two of the holes (holes 2 and 3, which are handicapped one and five on the card, meaning we had to take Bogey's for both those holes) were unplayable due to water damage from storms. We were not informed that we were only going to get to play 16 holes on the course before we got there so immediately the round was somewhat soured upon arrival. Considering this is a special trip up to this course and more than likely I'm not coming back, I would have liked to play the whole course if I was making the trip. It also was often confusing where to go when holes ended and the next hole would start. Signs indicating directions for the tee location after the first hole were wet and unreadable. All in all, I would consider this more of a cow pasture and other than having nice views, I wouldn't recommend this for a serious round of golf especially at a price point of almost $90. Pay a little extra and go to...
Read moreHad the opportunity to play Waumbek Golf Club with my brother and nephew and was pleasantly surprised! Got there a little early and was thoroughly impressed with the clubhouse and overall amenities, perfectly positioned for stunning views of the White Mountain Range. The people were New England friendly and the overall atmosphere was incredibly welcoming. Waumbek has a great layout and at 6011 yards from the blues and 5605 from the whites it is very playable for mid to high handicaps. The NorthEast has been in a virtual drought since the Fourth of July and the burn on the fairways reflects that. HOWEVER the greens were in very good shape and putted true, kudos to the grounds crew. The course is framed with fescues you want to avoid at all cost. We stayed for lunch and some famous Vermont IPAs and enjoyed that beautiful clubhouse deck with those monster views. The food and service did not disappoint! Like anything golf is dependent on your attitude and I could have a great time playing with my brother and nephew anywhere but Waumbek was a good value in a idyllic location. Play with people you like and keep reasonable expectations and the overall experience will dwarf any course complaints. We...
Read moreA peak foliage weekend in NH is amazing in itself. To experience one at the Waumbek is next level. The Waumbek is situated in one of the most lovely areas of Jefferson NH. Yes, the views on the golf course and in the restaurant are insane but the experience goes far beyond the scenery. Upon our first lunch at the Waumbek , my family and I were greeted with the most amazing service, a lovely woman named Lisa. She truly made us feel right at home. Her assertiveness and warm demeanor welcomed us into this gorgeous new establishment. Food was delish!!! We had an upcoming event and it honestly it was an easy decision to have it at the Waumbek. We met with Rebecca, the event planner, and she thoughtfully guided us through the process. She listened to my ideas on menu options and made the PERFECT selections for our guests at our event. She was amazing! An evening of warm hosts, delicious food choices, views galore, and OUTSTANDING customer service!! We were...
