Constantly closed. Why can’t get they pay higher wages and get employees to care more or get better employees. I have seen some really crazy stuff happen here from employees to management over the years. It’s 8 and they closed again. Unreliable. Not worth making trip to find it closed again. Or when is open walk thru a mess inside 4 walls. Closed due to freight inside is the excuse.

I recently visited the Galene Drive Dollar General after more than a month away, and I was genuinely impressed by the transformation. Typically, Dollar General stores can be a bit chaotic, with merchandise blocking aisles and clutter everywhere. However, this location was a pleasant surprise. It was well-lit, clean, and organized—an absolute turnaround from my previous experiences. The store manager was exceptional. She greeted me warmly and was attentive to every detail, including managing the store’s atmosphere and addressing customer needs. I witnessed her interaction with a group of young boys who came in after school; she addressed them by name and kindly reminded them to leave their backpacks at the door. Her approach was neither aggressive nor condescending—more like a caring figure who knows her community well. She also made a point to apologize for the air conditioning being out, even though it was not immediately noticeable. My wife visited the store a week later, and the AC issue was still apparent. The manager again offered a respectful apology and used my wife's name, which showed a personal touch and genuine concern. This store has clearly benefited from a dedicated manager who seems to be making a significant positive impact. It's heartening to see a store like this thriving with customers who were leaving with full bags. However, I do have some concerns about whether upper management will provide the necessary support to maintain this positive momentum. If the manager is not adequately supported, there's a risk the store could revert to its previous state. I'll definitely consider updating my rating once the AC issue is resolved, as it will be a sign that the store is receiving the support it deserves. In the meantime, I encourage others to visit this store and experience the impressive turnaround...

When did customer service become an option instead of a necessity?? No I do not work for the Dollar General but I have shopped there long enough to know how to load my coupons correctly so that I get the maximum benefit off of them... When I was being checked out today I gave the cashier a tip about how to take the coupons off, so that we wouldn't have a problem at the end. . He wanted to do it his way so I said okay... My total was higher than I thought it was going to be and I proceeded to inspect my receipt before I left the building... Noticing that one coupon did not come off correctly.. when I question said employee about that he said, oh yeah when I rang it up it didn't come off correctly because you must not have cut it right... I couldn't ring it up... This was all new to me. I said well let's void it, and re-ring it with the coupon.. he said no, no,.. I'm not going through that much trouble for $0.50 and I said I'm sorry it's a dollar... He said just take the dollar then.. a manager puts her two cents worth in, saying all that trouble for just a dollar!! I'm sorry but dollars are important to me, I'm glad that the Dollar General employees are paid so well they don't have to worry...

I entered the store and in less than 30 seconds I was approached by one of the employees asking me if I want something. I said no thanks I just want to see what u have. The guy asked me three times "what do u want". I said I don't need help I am looking but after he asked me again. I told him I am not comfortable being in the store anymore. They assumed I was there to steal even though I stopped at the aluminum foil looking at them "cost 1 dollar for 3". If I want to steal I would be in another isle. Anyway, I walked out of the store and was not able to buy anything. I really needed to buy these bannana bread small baking pans but they did not allow me enough time to even look. I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. They seem to be very scared of every customer that enters. This is not a good way to run a business. I will never go back in that...
