I recently tried The Cake Boutique’s copycat “Dubai Bar”, and honestly, it was a letdown. The slogan, “It’s easier to go to the Cake Boutique than Dubai,” might be catchy, but the bar itself doesn’t live up to the hype. The chocolate coating was thin and tasted more like decorative chocolate than the rich, thick and airy chocolate of other Dubai bars. The pistachio cream filling was barely there and overly salty, making the chocolate taste even more overpowering. To top it off, there was a lingering taste that reminded me of the shipping box or perhaps how long it had been sitting on the shelf. If you’ve never had the Belgian Chocolate Dubai bar, you might find this acceptable, but for those who have, it’s a disappointing imitation. I wish I had read the packaging more carefully to realize it wasn’t close to the authentic version before spending $20.
EDIT INCASE ITS NOT CLEAR: This review is over the Cake Boutiques Copy Cat “Dubai Bar” as I previously mentioned a few times. I am only commenting on the chocolate bar itself and not the store if that’s not clear. This review is for others looking to purchase (this is one of the only places in town to have it). The chocolate tastes stale and it’s a poor imitation. As far as recommendations I suggest trying Fox’s Belgium Chocolate Dubai Bar. As far as the store I had an initial pleasant interaction ( the prices were a bit high but the options were nostalgic) and it seemed like a nice mom and pop shop. However their respond to a negative critique that isn’t directly related to them but a product they sell is horrible. 3 stars for...
Read moreMy daughter and I decided to make a trip to Carroll's Candies on Sunday afternoon. They have a wide variety and things that you don't find most places. The owner makes homemade chocolates, caramels, and other goodies. There were 4 trays that didn't have signs in front of them so I inquired as to what those might be. He kind of bit my head off about all the different kinds he makes. His wife even seemed a little taken aback from his response. I could read all the ones that had signs, I just thought that those were ones that signs may have been missing. We ended up getting a small box of 3 pieces. I tried the Better Butter (I think is what it was called). Oh my heavens, it was a homemade Butterfinger. Delicious. My daughter tried the peanut butter one and it was amazing as well. My daughter also got a grab bag of international candy which she loves seeing...

Prices are great, there is almost always some $1 pieces in baskets and a small clearance section but everything else is...
