My wife and I were there for the first Friday night 9/20/24, and we just purchased a gate ticket $6/person. Last year, we missed seeing the livestock, for we went the last night for the Fair and so we made attempt to go last night thinking we could see them. To our surprise they're not going to be there until Monday of next week. The NEA Fair has always been a family past time for us and this year we are sorry to say that we didn't feel like that this year. If it wasn't for seeing old friends, this is why I hate to give them three stars. There used to be a lot of rides and most of them were not even running them due to the fact there weren't very many people. The carnival games that were always fun and challenging were very expensive to play when they used to be a couple of dollars and this year almost $5-$10/ game. Don't look for the Jonesboro town businesses to have booths setup in the municipal building this year either, for they told them to setup outside and this was another way to see old friends by learning about their business and upcoming products and registration for prizes from the vendors. We only saw five last night and when my wife asked one of the business people about how come they were not in the air condition building, the gentleman replied that they were changing up and doing away with it this year and as long as you purchased a section out on the midway, could you promote your business. We felt like our favorite time over the years of going to the fair except this yea,r was very sad and wish that it changes back in the future or we will be going to different county fair next year. We know that Jonesboro is fastly growing, but don't change the good things, that's what people were saying last night through out the fair when we were talking and walking around the midway on how they remembered the old days. Attendance was very low last night and there was no music entertainment. Might have gave more ⭐'s had we enjoyed our visit last night. Slightly...
Read moreI took my boys to the fair yesterday and had a very disappointing experience. At the little airplane ride, the operator rudely refused to let my son on, saying he was “too tall,” even though the posted height limit was 48 inches and he’s only 46–47. Other parents even spoke up, but the operator refused to recheck and told me, “You want to have my seat and operate?” When I asked for a manager, a woman finally came after 10 minutes, re-measured my son, and spoke to the operator. When I said I expected an apology for how we were treated, she yelled at me: “Ma’am, you do not demand anything. Why don’t you go ride something else!” This was unprofessional and disrespectful. Both the ride operator and manager need training on basic customer service. We walked away because I refused to let them ruin our day, but the way we were treated was unacceptable, and I would never want it to happen to anyone else. PS: Thank you to the strangers who witnessed it and...
Read moreI miss being able to ride the slowest ride and one having the least chance of scaring me too death. Then I catch someone losing their cookies and realize how close I had come to embarrassing myself. I love going, seeing my grandbabies have fun. The food smells are wonderful. When you are financially able the many things you can buy are mind boggling. BUT I love the concerts most. Can't wait to find out who is playing this year. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Point of Grace was there. Or The Birds from Purple Rain. My eldest daughter would take a heart attack just to get to come see and listen to them....
