I have a Seth Thomas wall clock that is very old and needed repair. I dropped off the clock at the Kasson store and was assured that it will be fixed in two weeks. Since I live over 150 miles away I told Chris that I would be in at that time (Family lives in Austin) I returned in three weeks to the store to pick up the clock and Chris told me that my clock was at his home! ? ! Why? He would go home at lunch to get it but I said please bring the clock to the store and I would come in at another time. The next time I called and told him to expect me on a certain date/time-to my surprise, this time the shop was closed because of a family emergency! The next time in to get my clock, I did get my clock and paid the bill. Chris told me that his work is guaranteed and no matter what-he will make the clocks he repairs right. Got it home and it did not work-back to Kasson for repairs-this happened three times and it still does not work! I called him to request him travel now to my home to do the repair on site (apparently he travels to homes on Mondays) He agreed-then he canceled and then he agreed to come out again and again canceled. Now he does not answer the phone because he knows the two numbers at our home, but when he does answer right away when I used a friend’s phone.BEWARE OF DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN our you will be taken and find yourself also with a clock that does not work and out of money 10/19/21 Got a phone call from Chris the owner and he was contacted by Google about the bad review- just asked for either money returned or clock fixed- - - well he said he will be out this coming Monday (10/25) Don’t hold your breath Google, I advise you to not support his business on your platform-makes you not...
Read moreThe gentleman was very friendly and knowledgeable about his profession. His shop is filled with clocks, big ones....small ones and ones in between! He did an immediate assessment and was able to show us where certain pins and their holes had oblonged out due to the force the spring had put on this part of the clock mechanism. He explained what repairs could be done and also explained how he could clean up the weld on the clock plate where someone had cut the plate to affect a repair at some time in the clock's past. This clock belonged to my wife's great grandparents, grandparents, her mother and now belongs to my wife. We look forward to it working again and also look forward to finding out its manufacturer and date of possible origin. I gave this a 4-star rating only because we are awaiting repairs. Once completed, I will provide an updated assessment.
Running out of time to get a family treasure working again? Looking for a fair estimate of cost and time necessary to complete repairs? Then, take some time for a little drive to Kasson and give the Colonial Clock Shop a chance to put the TIC back with the TOC and the DING back with the DONG. He won't...
Read moreI wanted SO HARD to like this guy, I really did. We brought him 2 clocks to work on....and they were done fairly quick. Brought them home and they worked great.....for a couple of months and then broke down again. Brought the clocks back and he worked on them again and took a long time before he said they were fixed. Brought them home....no. One worked half the time and the other wouldn't keep running, even though it was wound up. Brought them back AGAIN and again, took a while and he said both were working good. Brought them home and one worked but the other stopped working within a week. The other one worked great for a couple months before it stopped....again. Fixed it ourselves and has been working great since then. Clock #2 is still a dust collector on the shelf. Wouldn't recommend this place to my...
