I have spent over a decade as a natural hair model, participating in national campaigns for esteemed brands such as Cream of Nature and As I Am. My photos showcasing my 4c hair, inherited from my mother, have garnered viral attention and many opportunities. My mother, known for her lush and well-cared-for hair, experienced significant thinning after a visit to Nikki’s salon. Initially attributing it to personal stress, the damage became evident following a silk press treatment by Nikki, leading to severe breakage and loss at the front of her head. Despite professional confirmation linking the damage to Nikki’s techniques, she callously accused my mother of having a medical condition that caused this hair loss. Mind you, my mother DOES NOT have any medical condition praise GOD. I could not believe this gross accusation. Nikki’s refusal to acknowledge her role and her dismissal of medical expertise reveal a concerning lack of accountability and professionalism. I strongly caution against trusting your hair health to Nikki as her negligence and arrogance may jeopardize your hair's well-being. As a professional model of natural hair and care with experience with countless stylists in the industry, I can say this is the WORST representation of a salon i have ever witnessed. I would never recommend this salon or Nikki to ANY ONE. Conversely, if a George Jefferson-inspired look is your goal, this may be the right salon for you.

RESPONDING TO THE OWNER’S COMMENT- my mom has always gotten a relaxer every 6 months and has always had a healthy head of hair. It was not until you started treating her hair that I noticed her hair thinning. The reason you are coming under fire is not just because you ruined my mom’s hair, but because of your ARROGANCE. Instead of taking ownership, you passed blame to my mom even suggesting she had a medical condition. When my mom followed up with a board certified medical team, you still questioned their determination. In your mind, my mom is at fault and not you. In your mind, you are beyond reproach. Here are the facts: 1). My mom’s hair was full before she started visiting you 2). My mom’s hair started thinning while under your care 3). My mom’s hair completely fell out following the silk press treatment YOU administered 4). My mom has no medical condition as confirmed by board certified medical professionals 5). Her medical team determined that external factors resulted in her hair loss. They concluded those external factors were attributed solely to YOUR SERVICES.

It’s important you understand that i posted this review because your ego is abusive and i will not allow you to gaslight my mother by diverting blame to fabricated medical conditions and weaponize Christianity against her. I can guarantee you that God’s work was not in your silk press. While you have many good reviews, this review is a true account of our experience. You messed up. Own it.

When I moved to Katy from Houston, I was unable to find a black hair salon anywhere so I had to continue going to my stylist in Houston. Everytime I needed a hair service, I had to drive 26-30miles. This was frustrating and exhausting. Finally, in 2007, Dnique's Hair Salon opened in my neighbor and I"ve been going there ever since! The salon is cozy and has a loving ambience. the people that work there and the customers interact like family getting together for Sunday dinner or a game of Spades! Not only is the salon comfortable, the owner, Nikki, is one of most the sweetest and caring hairstylist that I have ever met. She exudes Southern hospitality. When I first started with her, my hair was thinning and I did not know why. Nikki started asking me questions regarding my health. From our conversation she suggested that I see my doctor and ask some specific questions. I did as she suggested and my doctor made some changes to my medication. Along with the change of my medications, Nikki formulated a hair regimen to address the thinning and shedding of my hair. With her help, my hair has grown stronger and healthier! I also trust Nikki with my daughters hair. Not only does Nikki specialize in caring for African American hair, she is knowledgeable with all diverse hair types.
