I was made to go four times to do application process, n on day of getting food I waited three hours in hot car, only to get junk food, two bags of chips, 6 eggs, spoiled meat I had to throw out, hard bread, n a retainer disfenfectant, n none of us wear retainer. We're family of five lost our food to storm, I needed good bread, more eggs, cereal, cheese, milk, for my twin 9 yr olds, pasta, n sauce, potatoes, maybe some bananas, things we feed children, to calm hunger. I'm 66 disabled person on fixed income, I saw others get a lot of eggs, coffee, milk, etc, what I got wasn't even what we lost in power outage. So all I have to feed kids now is beans that survived storm. I saw others get a lot more food that is family of five, n grandpa disabled Vietnam vet with missing leg n diabetic, he can eat all junk food that was given. I don't understand why they don't have a list n have us check what is needed n use that to gauge what of that list is available, I get nog all can be given, but at least match some of it, I recall over 10 yrs ago, I used to get food that helped greatly, it was sacrifice to use my gas going four times, only to end up with still seeing my kids hungry. One meal was all I could cook out 6 eggs. Wic gave better amount but my kids don't qualify no more. N we lost our food from snap due to storm n I've asked for replacement but haven't gotten none yet. My kids went to bed hungry. We all did. So hug n enjoy ur kids thight if u can feed them well, illnesses n accident don't allow me to work, n gpa...
Read moreI am very grateful for what this ministry does, but please please make a better system for the families coming in for the food pantry. Having to be turned away an hour before the pantry closes is very upsetting. Please add something to the website or something to the phone lines so that families can call and know the process for the day before driving over to make it to the pantry just to be turned away before the actual hours of closing. This has now happened at the old and new location.
As an update: 11-7-22 I try to make sure I get to the pantry at 10:40am, just to make sure I am not turned away for the 3rd time. But instead there’s a sign that states the pantry will not reopen today. I officially give up on this pantry. I checked the website and called to see if there is anything stating a closer for the day and there’s nothing.
I don’t understand why there are hours of operation listed when the pantry opens and closes when it’s feasible for them.
And for those who do not have a Facebook such as myself, instagram or twitter page, there needs to be a better solution to get the word out...
Read morePlease read the reviews everyone can’t be lien! I’ve been given spoiled meats as well and emergency assistance I remember going up here 5-10 times each morning 5 minutes after opening and still being told they are out of appointments. I spoke with Jennifer their admin multiple times she would say all appointments are full, how you guys just opened? I can see why others feel you only help one race. I did receive help after going every morning and was told they will only pay your base rent of whatever your full rent is! I was grilled over the phone as to why the company I worked for had a layoff. I was asked multiple questions by the case worker whom was very short over the phone. For food pick up I had to provide every document for myself and my children known to man and an application for a number before I could get anything! I will say I received a host of fruits and vegetables but every meat was out dated and had frost damage I truly hope no one that works here have to be on the other side...
