Horrible experience with massage therapist Shae. Not only was I scheduled for a massage and no one showed up for the first scheduled massage. I had to miss a family excursion because they rescheduled 3 hours later. When they rescheduled, I was so happy to be getting a massage because I’ve been working 55 hour weeks non-stop for the past year and haven’t received a massage this entire year as a result of the pandemic. The massage therapist who arrived at the rescheduled time, Shae, seemed annoyed to be there immediately upon my arrival to the spa at the resort. Her name is Shae and I won’t post her last name on this review. I told her that I had missed my families excursion because of the rescheduling of the massage and that I really needed a deep tissue massage. She tried to push a Lomi Lomi massage and that isn’t what I wanted. I could tell by her poor attitude and rude way she was speaking to me that she didn’t really want to be working and was just sent out there last minute. She said she had plans after the massage so she was happy to go out of her way to accommodate me. (She said it in a really rude condescending way.) l told Shae that I didn’t like the way she was speaking to me and that all I wanted was a massage on my vacation. I was practically in tears. She said...”I don’t like your energy.” I asked her to please stop being rude to me. She kept on but I stood up for myself and told her to stop being rude to me. She rolled her eyes and said, “I’m out of here.” I told her I was going to call her manager about how she was treating me and she threatened to call security on me. Needless to say...I was appalled and will never go to this resort or Rainforest spa again.
The manager called later and apologized and sent me a bottle of skin lotion and said she was using it as a “teaching moment” for Shea. Good luck with that. I appreciate the gesture of giving me a lotion but I will never forget that experience. I think Shae just didn’t want to work and did what she could to get out of it with no regard to how she treated a client. I will not forget. Shae has bad...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I got the Hawaii Honeymoon Ritual Couples Massage with the added Deep Tissue option. I had my massage with Ryan and my boyfriend had a female therapist. I think her name was Cristina.
Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Massage: 4/5 Call center service: 2/5
I called prior to making an appointment to ask about the differences in the two couples Massage options as they seemed incredibly similar. The person. Who I spoke to did not work at the physical location and was just reading what I was reading on the spa menu. He couldn't answer my questions. We were originally looking for a day spa that had several amenities (Dry/Wet Sauna, Cold Plunge, Relaxation Pool, Salt/light therapy, etc.) I tried to ask about included amenities and I found myself running in circles during the conversation. I didn't get any information other than, you can use the sauna for 15 min. and you can use the pool with any service if you ask for a pool pass (this is false.)
Decided to just go in person to get information and book. The hostess was extremely helpful and kind. We made reservations for the very next day.
I enjoyed the Massage very much and believe Ryan is a skilled therapist. It was extremely relaxing however I find myself still aching at the end of the day. The experience was great but given the price, it's not something I would do again. We try and get body work done at least on a monthly basis and have had budget to boujee massages.
All in all, it was nice but I wish I didn't feel like I needed another Massage after I...
Read moreWorst spa experience my wife and I have ever had. What was intended as a relaxing kick-off to our vacation ended up being exactly the opposite.
To start, the massage room is next to a weight lifting room so if you enjoy being pushed into fight-or-flight mode rushes of adrenalin every time someone drops their weights (a frequent event) then this is the massage for you.
The spa offers massage "enhancements" that are almost comically over-priced for what you get. If you think paying over $100 for a 20 minute scalp massage seems ridiculously high, wait until you find out they actually use 20 minutes from your massage time for a lackluster rub of some stuff in your hair and that's it.
The kicker is that when we complained to the the manager she offered a 50% refund but when we got home found that she'd refunded considerably less. So add dishonesty to the list of complaints.
As for the resort property, Outrigger Kauai is really wonderful but until they find a less horrible spa partner I would avoid the property if a spa experience is something you are looking for. The fact that they promote this spa on their website and allow them to operate like this on their property and under their banner was just about the only black mark for them - but it...
