We were referred to Precision Woods from both our residential builder and independent interior designer. We also met with a direct competitor of PW to compare two different companies and bids. Precision beat their competitors price which was just one of many reasons why we ultimately chose PW. Tom was also a deciding factor in choosing PW because we appreciated his customer service and personable “shoot you straight” personality. We met with Tom in the showroom to discuss our new build custom cabinetry room by room. He was very knowledgable and thorough when it came to exploring all of our options. He was great about guiding us with practical and functional use of our cabinetry in addition to the aesthetic design. He also listened to our vision and gave us feedback about our inspiration photos we had from going through Parade of Homes houses and online resources. He was an open book when it came to sharing what add on features from outside vendors (like Rev-A-Shelf) were actually practical and worth the additional cost and what items were not or he could trouble shoot another cost effective option. Tom values the customer’s pocket book while still creating beautiful, functional cabinetry for every day living. When Tom came out for a site visit to perform field measurements, he also gave us feedback and suggestions on adding custom cabinetry to our pantry rather than just utilizing basic trim carpenter shelving. We are so thankful for that change and the functionality it adds to our pantry. Aside from your typical kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, we made a “furniture” stand alone looking powder bath vanity, a make-up counter in the master bath with a grooming drawer, beautiful dining buffet, a TV lift for our great room built-ins and pull-out drying rack drawers for our laundry room. Tom and his team put a lot of effort into the drying rack drawers behind the scenes. The inspiration photo we showed him utilized a mesh fabric material to lay clothes on but they were afraid that material would begin to sag in time due to the weight of wet clothing so they tried metal mesh but worried about rust or snagging on clothes. They ultimately made removable inserts that have acrylic rods across them to rest the clothes on. They are beautiful, functional and practical for all those delicate laundry items. We also did a custom shelf over our washer and dryer with Rev-A-Shelf pull down rods to hang clothes to dry which I love. I use these custom features daily. My husband appreciates not having clothing hanging from shower rods or lying on furniture. Hands down, Precision Woods is our go to recommendation for any of your...
Read moreWe began working with Precision Woods in March, but our cabinets and shelves weren't installed until June. From the outset, the process was marred by miscommunication and delays. A slit was cut in the bottom of our shelves for lighting, which we had only briefly discussed as a potential future addition. However, we were never informed that the cutout would be made or that electrical work was required. On installation day, the installers questioned why we hadn’t arranged for the electrical work, leaving us with a hasty decision—either leave the shelves as they were or have them redone.
Reluctantly, we proceeded with the installation, only to find that the stain on the shelves was not what we had requested. The lack of communication between the sales representative and the painter left us frustrated. Precision Woods agreed to remake and restain the shelves, and we tried to stay patient. We were very grateful for their understanding and willingness to work through the situation and get it resolved.
However, things worsened during the second installation in July. The shelves weren’t properly secured, causing them to slope due to a lack of nails. Although they came back to fix the issue, the shelves had already sagged, and the drywall was damaged. Worse, the L-shaped shelves split slightly when nails were added, creating visible flaws. Although they offered to redo them when it happened, when they returned a week or so later to grab a shelf to take to the painter so the stain could match, the owner’s dismissive attitude when we did in fact request the L-shaped shelf be redone was disheartening. His comment, "Really? That’s barely noticeable," felt unprofessional and dismissive of our concerns.
When we asked for cost adjustments, we were shocked by the minimal compensation offered. Despite requesting an itemized receipt to clarify the labor, materials, and staining costs, we were told, "We don’t do that," leaving us in the dark about where our money went.
By late August, after a third attempt, the shelves were installed again. Unfortunately, they were positioned unevenly in relation to our fireplace, and the stain on the bottom shelf was darker than the rest.
At this point, we’ve decided to stop pursuing corrections. While the craftsmanship of the cabinets and shelves is good, I cannot recommend Precision Woods due to their severe lack of communication, poor customer service, and disregard for customer satisfaction. For the amount of money we invested, we expected better care and respect for our vision of our home—unfortunately, that’s not what...
Read moreWe have been building a custom home for the last 2 years and Tom Kochis at Precision Woods has been helping us throughout the entire process with our cabinets. We appreciate Tom so much, he is an honest man that stands behind Precision Woods work. He had to deal with me making changes for months on our cabinet designs until I finally finalized them and was so kind, gracious, and professional the entire time. Dealing with him has been such a breath of fresh air compared to the majority of the other sub contractors for our custom home. Precision's team crafted amazing and beautiful custom cabinets for us. Not only that, but Precision and Tom have been absolutely amazing in helping us with an issue (NO FAULT TO PRECISION, other sub contractors fault) and have gone ABOVE AND BEYOND to make us happy. I am so, so thankful that we have had Tom to work with throughout this process. Without him, I don't think this would have gone as well as it has. We will 100% recommend Tom and everyone at Precision Woods over and over and over again. ...
