A particular assistant manager was very rude over the holidays. They closed at 6PM on either Christmas Eve or New Years Eve (can't remember), and people were still trying to make it in before they closed. With this being the only store left open on island, one of the employees was nice enough to let people in after they closed, however this assistant manager was running around rumbling saying "lock them out already!" Fifty years ago in the summer of 1968, I spent 9 weeks picking pineapple for Dole Plantation in Lana’i. I lived just around the corner from Richard Tamashiro’s Market, which was a simple sundries store back then, nothing like the bright and inviting store it is today. Considering that most items need to be shipped to the island, prices are quite reasonable. They have some prepared food for sale, Spam musubi, poke, sushi, bakery items.
