On Friday July 13, returning from a 4,000+ mile road trip, I had a blowout of an RV tire on Hwy 285 just south of the CO-NM line. Less than 10,000 miles and 3yrs on these âmade in Chinaâ tires, and they deteriorated quick. I also had a hole and steel belt showing in a second, and suspect 3rd and 4th tires.
A Google search said Atencio Tires had 24/7 emergency roadside assistance. I called and left a message at 5:45pm on Fri, and to date (Sunday July 15), have not received a call back. I called Reed Tire, and Brad answered instantly. I told him I was looking for one ST205 75R14 tire, and he said would see what he could do.
At the time, I thought I only needed one tire, so within 20 or so minutes, Mitch was dispatched and was there quick. He was very helpful. He offered all in my family cold water bottles. He assessed that I had bigger problems (four tires bad, and we wouldnât make it far). They didnât have four R14s. Brad and he collaborated, came up with an idea to change my R14 with R15 tires, scavenged their shop, and Brad put four new R15 tires on four rims. 3 of one type tire, one mismatch, and mismatched rims. But âbeggars canât be choosersâ ... we were 1,000 miles from home, in the middle of nowhere, broke down on the side of the road.
Brad delivered roadside, and together they installed four new rims and tires on the side of the highway, at 9pm, on a Friday, with traffic whizzing by.
We traded rims from my trailer, plus $512 (about $90 per new tire, installed roadside, and they charged me for 1.5hrs of labor, despite the fact that they both, together, had 6 hours of labor in).
They wouldnât take more, were empathetic that we were spending my wifeâs birthday alongside the road broke down, and were all about SERVICE, getting us safely back on the road.
I am very appreciative of their help, and wholeheartedly recommend this...

We have a brand new 2025 Ford truck with Fuel rims, never had a tire rotation, and decided to take our vehicle to get itâs first tire rotation at their location in La Jara. The employees who completed the rotation damaged the rims and chipped the paint on two different rims. We were told that it was our fault and was probably damaged somewhere else. (We just bought our truck a few months ago.) my husband took the truck to the main location. He received push back from the manager at that location. He was told they would make it right. After 2-3 weeks of physically showing up at the shop he was told that they werenât going to do anything. The owner stated âthey werenât liable for the damages to the rims. And if my husband was so worried about the rims, maybe he should have completed the tire rotation himself. You spent $20 at my store and expect me to fix $1000.00s in damages? How would I stay in business?â The owner also said that âif we would have bought the rims and tires at his location, then maybe it would be a different story.â The owner had the audacity to put the blame on us, for taking our vehicle to their location. My wife went to your Alamosa store on 03/029/2021 for an alignment on a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. They put her truck on the machine and then told her that they couldn't do the alignment yet because some work needed to be done first. The work they told her that she MUST have done first included: lower ball joint, both tie rods and control arms. All of this for the low price of $752.08.
We had just spent a weekend and over $1000 replacing EXACTLY those same parts. I have the receipts and will provide pictures to prove this if needed. There was nothing wrong with her truck, and yet they charged this cute little helpless looking blonde woman $40.
Am I missing anything here? They lied to her, tried to cheat her out of $752 and then charged her $40 for the privilege???
You guys used to be an incredible store. I don't know if this new customer service attitude has anything to do with the name change at the store, or if it's something else. I have used your store many times in the past and was very happy about it, which is why I sent my wife to you.
I emailed your store the day after this event and it's now seven days later with no contact at all. At first I had just asked you for an apology, but now I'm thinking that refunding my wife the ridiculous service charge for nothing is...
