Lordo's Diamonds — Local services in Ladue

Nearly 42 years ago I walked into Lordo's original location in downtown St. Louis looking for an engagement ring for my soon to be fiancé. I was a young kid with little money and even less confidence that I would be able to purchase the heart-shaped diamond she wanted. Frankly I was intimidated to even be there. Michael Lordo waited on me that day and treated me like I was a millionaire who could afford anything in the store. He brought out envelopes of heart-shaped diamonds for me to look at placing them on the counter, more diamonds than I had ever seen. Michael treated me like I was the best customer he had ever dealt with when the reality I was lucky to scrape the money together to buy a ring. He worked with me on the price and the setting and later worked with me to create a custom wedding ring to accompany the engagement ring at a very fair price. 42 years later, my wife of 40 years still wears the ring I purchased so long ago, still as beautiful as the day I purchased it. I’m recently engaged and my fiancé purchased the ring from Lordo’s Diamonds. They’re located in Ladue off Clayton. There’s plenty of parking and it’s easily accessible. Great storefront.

Anyway, when I returned from our vacation, I was eager to get the ring sized. I went to Lordo’s on a Monday afternoon. I was promptly welcomed even though they’re were other guests in the store. They were very friendly and genuinely happy for me on my engagement. I was sad to leave my ring behind to get sized but they ensured me it would be ready by the end of the day or first thing the next morning. Sure enough it was and they called to let me know. When I went it pick it up on Tuesday, I received the same welcome and same customer service from a different employee. I’m grateful my fiancé chose Lordo’s and I’ll continue to visit the store and give them business for years to come.

First of all let me tell you how impressed I was when we walked into the store and employees immediately acknowledged us. The store is elegantly laid out with very comfortable easy to flow pattern to comfortably look at the jewelry selection. The owner came over and personally introduced himself engaging in a nice conversation that had nothing to do with showing items or making a sale. I'm impressed as you normally do NOT get that kind of greating. We looked around while the daughter was having her rings stones checked. My wife noticed an unusual ring in the display. She was shown the ring and told of its origin and how the stone was cut.
