Fresh Pickin's — Local services in Lafayette

I am an absolute fan of Fresh Pickins!! I have completely switched over to purchasing my produce from fresh pickins exclusively. Not only due to the garden-fresh, crisp taste of their produce, but because of the price point as well! The choice between their delicious, rich produce compared to big box stores non comparable especially regarding price, size difference, and taste. I able able to purchase some of the largest zucchinis, the thickest tomatoes, and the most delicious hush puppies I have ever tasted from Fresh Pickins.

On top of all of that, they run weekly deals that helps the consumers branch out and try news produce! In the past few weeks I have been able to purchase 10 for $1 limes, 3 for $1 avocados, 3 for $1 tomato’s, and just today I got TWO 1lb cartons of fresh strawberries.

Shopping at Fresh Pickins is an absolute joy! I love chatting with their staff who are always so friendly and welcome every customer with a smile. They are always so knowledgeable and able to tell me anything I need to know about the local products they sell around the store or help me find specific produce.

I am not one to leave google reviews, but I felt the need to let this market know what an amazing job they are doing and hopefully encourage some of the community to go...

I have been recently coming here for fruits and vegetables and have never been disappointed but once. The selection and prices, as well as the customer service is why I've started coming here, also the atmosphere; up until my last visit. Aggressive homeless man harassing me for money was my first 5 minutes there, followed by him staring at me as well as other patrons to see who has money; sometimes following them outside and asking. To make things worse, a group of this homeless man's friends came in, in and out of the bathroom, picking cigarettes butter off the ground and smoking them. One homeless lady of this group was pressuring a worker to accept her application to work there; seemingly upset when asked to finish the information. These people spent the majority of the time walking around, hogging the bathroom and aggressively staring at patrons. This review is not against Fresh Pickens, we normally love everything we purchase from there. But back in October we purchased two jars of Jelly under the Ole Homestead brand. They are not good at all, we got the Crawfish Jelly thinking it would be a spicy jelly to put over Cream Cheese. It literally has no flavor, not spicy, salty or sweet. It has bell peppers and seasonings but it's flavorless. The other jar is Orange Marmalade, it tastes nothing like orange, more sour like lemon and lime. The rinds aren't cooked down enough and are tough and chewy and lack flavor except bitter. It's also not sweet like a Marmalade and it's very chunky very little jelly to suspend the ingredients.
