SPCA of Brazoria County is poorly manages facility! They allowed someone, either employee or friend, to adopt my dog and not willing to help reunite me with her. I’ve asked them to make a simple call to the person that adopted her just to ask if they are willing to give her back and they kept telling me they won’t bother the person? What kind of BS is that? When I asked if there was anything in the policies stating the aren’t allowed to she just says they won’t. Which just confirms to me that someone there took her home since she was not posted on their website or fb page. Til this day her picture is not there, unless the deleted it. I found her on the Lake Jackson Humane Department page after 2 weeks of looking for her. I have even offered to pay an adoption fee to get my own dog back! Even the executive director is not helping. All they keep repeating to me is the adoption policy after 72 hour hold. They know who has her, which happens to be a volunteer, employee, family or friend and refuses to asked them to reunite her with us! I just want my dog back!!!! 😭😭😭 Why can’t they just be kind and make a quick phone call or make their employee or volunteer return her?!?!?? Looks like I will have to turn this to a legal matter!

Today was my first time volunteering at Brazoria SPCA. Every shekter has different rules and protocols and I happened to come when a group of high school students were volunteering during their summer break. There are beautiful walking areas and large trees providing shade against the Texas heat. The shelter staff member who brought me dogs was very kind and, having worked at a municipal shelter, it is an incredibly challenging job. This shelter has an overwhelming amount of dogs, I think over 600, and I was dumbfounded by how sweet the dogs I walked were. They were all friendly, different breeds, and easy to walk. I'll certainly make Brazoria SPCA a part of my life moving forward and contribute to their mission. I highly recommend seeing how you can help too - foster, volunteer, donate (or company donations), or even just spread the word helping to find their pets forever homes. Great work!

Went to the SPCA to adopt a dog today. We were helped by three people and they were all very helpful and friendly. We were told that Hogg had been at the shelter for a long time. He was obviously very well taken care off during his stay there. He’s muscular and healthy. He settled in instantly to home and he is the sweetest dog ever. Thank you very much to the young man who matched him with us. He is the perfect fit for our family. We are naming him Dude and he comes to his new name right away. He loves to ride in the truck too.

THEY KEEP BLOCKING ME. I was lied and told my dog had been there for 4 months and was ā€œkid friendlyā€. Turns out he was only there a few days. Well, while taking all necessary precautions, the dog unprovoked attacked my daughter which ended in an ER visit due to a bite. I couldn’t get them to return the dog. They claimed I was trying to euthanize the dog (???) and that I’m banned from ever adopting again which was false. I just wanted to return him since he attacked my baby girl. They will lie about their dogs to get you to adopt then gaslight you when you try to return the dog saying it was your fault. They also adopted the dog out to me with no rabies vaccine and no formal vet records which didn’t help in the scenario my daughter was bit. I scheduled 3 appts with their clinic to get the rabies done prior to the incident, all 3 got canceled due to no vet available. I was told I was ā€œirresponsibleā€ and the bite was my fault. The dog clearly was aggressive and had an aggressive history. I have PTSD and will never be adopting a dog from a shelter again, and would never recommend anyone adopting from this horribly ran place. Charlotte, the lady who helps run the county dogs, was incredibly rude and insincere and cared more about the dog than my attacked daughter. She lied and told everyone I was trying to euthanize the dog when in reality I just wanted him out of my home and back to the shelter. They will lie and say whatever they want about their animals to get you to adopt and put your family in harms way. This place needs to...

After losing my beloved cat of 13 years, I was finally ready to bring a new companion into our home. I spent months scouring local shelters, only to be denied multiple times because I didn’t want to ā€œfoster to adoptā€ unaltered males or simply get a terse ā€˜not available’ reply to emails attempting to reach out about many different kinds of cats. It seemed really hopeless, to be honest. I finally took a chance and considered long distance adoption after seeing a cat on Petfinder. Linda Carey, the long distance adoption coordinator, is amazing. She responded promptly, and was friendly and professional throughout the whole process. I was provided with every detail of our cats medical history, and Linda gave me insights into his personality, as he was staying with her before he traveled to us. Patrice, one of the women driving the transport van, was kind and understanding when I was forced to meet her at a different drop off location due to serious traffic issues. I must say, those women who were driving the transport van must be actual angels, because our kitty arrived seemingly unstressed and immediately became part of our family. Linda and her team who handles the long distance adoptions were an absolute pleasure to work with, beginning to end. Our kitty Tony is sweet, playful, loving, and was clearly very well taken care of in the time he spent at their shelter. I highly recommend, especially if you are considering long...

5 stars for the unwelcoming environment. Everyone looks so over joyed to work there and the "I hate my job" atmosphere is absolutely amazing. This is a stressful line of work but y'all signed up for it so to walk around looking pitiful is ridiculous. The way some of these employees talk to one another is just baffling. Yelling, cussing, and just being inappropriate around customers and volunteers is absolutely what is going to draw in customers. Watching staff yell or drag animals outside when their on leash and not listening is another fantastic thing you'll find there. I promise you if you stay and walk a good amount of dogs from the kennel area none of them will look unhealthy, neglected or under weight. I bet they all sleep in perfectly clean kennels with everything they need not suffering based off just how the staff represent themselves. Let's not even discuss that no kill status that isn't fully true. Yes I have names but that isn't necessary to post. I don't want to see this place shut down but y'all need to do better. Look at that lovely staff of yours and how they really represent you. Some of those "higher ups" I'm assuming based off the way they carried themselves shouldn't even be allowed to work in that environment with the level of hate they have for their own job. I loved going there and volunteering but...
