Golden's Tropical World — Local services in Lake Township

Well I went there to explore what this pet shop has to offer since it was in the South Side between 87th and Ashland Avenue. They cater more towards fish and Aquarium supplies in livestock. They also have a small selection of parakeets and white mice or gerbils as well as the supplies for the cages and food for the mice and gerbils. The place is okay I guess some of their fish if not most of their fish look sick with some disease called ich. I was considering looking around just to see some cockatoo loose in the store. I did not like that but it is their store since I don't trust any loose animals outside the cage to be tame. I think this is best for people who live in the south side since traveling up to the north side is a burden for them if they don't have transportation or can't afford to go up to the north side to see better fish and pet shops. I would not buy anything from them for the meantime but seems like the store has been open for a while so I guess it's good for the locals to buy pet supplies or start off buying tanks and cages here but I would recommend going elsewhere due to the location that this...

"Great customer service just not a large selection of pets but still a great place with an awesome experience is what I put at 1st and I'm pro black owned businesses...but I bought an eel from them that I was told was a fresh water and it died only to later research that it was brackish. I called to share the info I learned so that they could better inform their customers only to be told that " I have sold them for 30yr with no complaints and I'm on lunch and want to finish" this is where people mess up and lose customers. If I sold or adopted someone an animal in my care I would share what has worked for me and not rebuttal with "that's why we have phones to do our own research". You should be able to trust your local pet store and hope that they would give you accurate information and not have to not trust their advice and go behind them and confirm[if you trusted them]. This was a major disappointment and the response I got was to be honest devastating after the optimal customer service I got while spending my money smh. Please do better...

Golden's is my go to place for all things aquarium related. It's a family owned business that offers both great product and great customer service. The staff is passionate and knowledgeable. 1Not only do they have all the equipment, frozen, dry and wet goods that I require to maintain a healthy fish tank. They also have fish and invertebrate species I won't find at the national chain stores like Petsmart or Petco. I can always find exotic fish I've never heard of like my electric catfish (yes it will shock you like the eel) which I got from there. Additionally I know that once my fish become too large for their habitats I can bring them in to Golden's for store credit. I also know that they don't sell large fish to just anyone and will inquire about your setup before they sell to you. It feels good to know that when I bring in fish that outgrew my 75 gallon they won't be sold to someone with a 29...
