Harvest Meat Market — Local services in Lakeland

We're new to the area and we just discovered this meat market. It is huge!! There is a massive variety and great deals & prices. I'm not sure as I haven't looked into where the meat comes from, but I'm praying they source from a very good place. I believe the lady I asked stated it came from Colorado meat company. I hadn't ever heard of that place where we moved from. Our meat store sourced most everything from local ranchers. I was curious as to why this meat market doesn't since there are so many ranchers in Florida. Rather than having meat shipped all the way across the country. We already made a roast. Which was good. The cost was great, too, considering it came from way out there. I'm going to look at the Colorado meat company up to see what or how they raise their cattle and such. I pray they grass feed and don't do antibiotics & shots. That would be wonderful if they don't. This store has a large section of frozen foods too. Lots of frozen veggies and such. I also thought they may have farm fresh eggs here, but I didn't see any. There wasn't really anyone to talk with as I didn't want to disturb the one lady who was very, very busy restocking. Great family grocery store. Nice staff, Great choices of meets at a great price....up date...I wouldn't recommend buying the cooked meats that are smoked. They are still very nice people but I feel they are smoking the meats that are expired. This is the second time I have bought smoked ribs and another time smoked pork chops and the meat is spoiled. I bought a rack of smoked ribs for dinner and the slab was rancid. When I first open the package I could smell the rotten smell, but it still didn't enter my brain that it was rancid. I pulled a rib off and pulled a peice of meant off and it was so rancid it was sickening. Immediately I spit the meat out and took it back to the store. It was so bad, even the employee could smell the rancid meat as I opened and explained that the meat was bad and pulled her face away very fast. She did apologize, offer me the last slab that was available and when I said no, she gave me my money back and apologized. My problem is...one, I sat on the toilet almost all night, two...how could an employee not smell the meat while preparing it to smoke, and....how could the employee not smell the rancid meat after cooking it and...

Never had a bad experience that Harvest Meat Market they've always had the style of meat the cut of meat that I've wanted and if they didn't have it ready they were gladly to go back and cut it for me the way I wanted the thickness and the style of cut even if I wanted the pack broken half so that I was able to afford a smaller pack of whatever I was buying they were more than willing to go back and help me get the price lower so I could afford to buy meat if I was low on cash. I always recommend Harvest Meat Markets everybody I talk to and will continue to until I have a bad experience but I never expect that from her Harvest because they are good people.
