Don’t purchase here. It’s a scam! Classic bait and switch. Read other 1 star reviews- we are not the first. Go check them out on BBB (Better Business Bureau). Here is our experience: Walked into the store. Asked for quote on two sectionals we liked. One consisted of 4 segments, the other of 5. Catherine scanned the tags and gave us a price. We were satisfied with the price and purchased both. 3 days before delivery get a call that ā€˜Catherine inadvertently left two segments off the purchase. The additional segments will cost another $600+taxā€. We examine our receipt and see that indeed, she actually rang us up for 5 segments (not 9). At the time of purchase we had not been concerned, because the verbal price she gave us on the floor matched the totals on our receipt. After all, the segments lock together. I had looked at each segment with Catherine, examined for any scuffs or damage since we were purchasing floor models. So we were led to understand (by willful or incompetent omission) that this is how they group the items on the invoice. There was no ambiguity in the store that we intended to purchase both complete sectionals as displayed. We told Catherine no thanks, we would cancel the whole order. An hour later the store manager calls us and says they will honor the prices we were quoted and charged. BOTH COMPLETE SECTIONALS (9 segments) would be delivered Wednesday as scheduled. Tuesday afternoon, I get an automated email confirming our delivery time. Only 5 segments were listed on the email. I called the store. Ms. E Jones speaks with me and after repeated holds informs me Catherine tells her we only purchased one sectional. (Haha) I ask her to pull up our sales order and look at the fact we were rung up for segments of two different sectionals, even if the totals segment count is messed up. After further holds, and me sending her photos of both sectionals, she agrees we purchased two sectionals and they will be delivered to us. She has her distribution warehouse manager, Kaylee, call me and tell me that both complete sectionals are lined up- 9 segments total- ready to be loaded on the delivery truck in the morning. Wednesday afternoon, delivery truck shows up. We ask the delivery men to confirm they have 9 segments. We will not take delivery otherwise. They assure us they have nine segments. They start unloading the sectional into our finished basement (banging up the walls in the process.) Halfway thru they come tell us, ā€œsorry, we actually only have 8 segments.ā€ We refuse delivery and have them load back up what they have unloaded. After dodging my calls for the next 5 days, I finally speak to Fergus at the Dump. He tells me that Catherine actually only rang us up for 5 segments, not 9. (Yes, I know! We’ve been through all this!) Fergus tells me that while they would ā€˜give’ us 2 segments complimentary, we would have to pay for the additional 2. I asked why they told us they would deliver all 9 segments, then show up with 8, then tell us they will honor 7? No answer, just keeps trying to get me to purchase 2 additional segments. We cancel our purchase for good. Waiting on reimbursement. Update: Took 32 days to receive full refund. Had to make multiple calls and a visit store in person. They insisted that they would not refund me their ā€˜restocking fee’ ($200.) They kept insisting I accept the partial reimbursement. I told them I would open a credit card dispute and/or take them to small claims court. They ignored this at first and kept insisting that I accept the partial reimbursement. When I didn’t back down they finally, FINALLY, refunded the entire amount.

UPDATE: Because the Dump did not immediately report the damage to my driveway when I told them about it, their claims company denied the claim. Unbelievable. And I’m still stuck with a broken couch. I paid extra for the premium delivery and bought an extended warranty on the couch…all for nothing. Original review: Good selection of couches, but poor quality and customer service. I ordered a recliner couch. I paid for the top of the line white glove total delivery and setup. Delivery dates were 10 weeks out. I waited anyway. Delivery day comes and they show up several hours after the delivery window (at night). Then they tried to pull a truck into my driveway (on a hill) and gouged out my driveway because the truck was too big to make it up the hill. The first couch was broke. The metal under the recliner on either side would catch the support bar and wouldn’t open/close. I added a video from the first couch to show the issue. Customer service said they would deliver a replacement when I called them. They did not address my driveway complaint. Just ignored it. Another month goes by. Second couch arrives with the SAME problem! Only this time it is worse. They leave it here anyway. This team once again gouged more marks into my driveway. The delivery team took photos of the broken part and then left. I never heard from them. Video of second couch showing that it is so bent I can’t even put the footrest down with someone sitting there (person sitting there is 145lbs for reference). After a few days I called again. I once again complained about the second couch with the defect AND the damage to my driveway. They said they would call me back in a couple days. I’m getting estimates for driveway repair. The driveway photo - the white marks are deep grooves cut into the driveway from their truck (likely the hitch on the back). DON’T pay for their delivery service!! If you find a deal on a floor model and can pick it up yourself, do it. If not, shop somewhere else.

I bought my first piece of furniture at the dump 30 years ago. I was happy to see it when I moved back to Richmond last year. As soon as I entered the store, Damian greeted me. He was such a pleasure to work with. Every time I came into the store he was able to help me narrow down my selections until I found the perfect rug at a great price. Fast forward a few months later, Damian informed me of amazing sale and I purchased an additional rug, two fabulous chairs and a table from Mitchell Gold. I am VERY pleased!

I have bought most of my furniture for my old house and new house at either Haynes or the dump. I never had an issue with those two furniture stores in over ten years. Within a year, as of June 2019, I purchased two pieces of furniture from The Dump. One was a couch and another was a dining room set. The first set, the dining set, I purchased in August, sales person was great I was in an out with no issues. However once it came to the delivery and the customer service 1-800 people that was a different story. They kept trying to delivery my new dining set to my old house, kept repeatedly telling them that’s not my address continued to give them my new address. When they finally got it right they delivered the wrong furniture and then when I got my original furniture it was damaged and then had to be returned and then when it came back not damaged they had to make two trips on separate days to bring me my furniture. Mind you the amount of days I had to leave work early to get furniture delivered at promised time just for them to not show up and had to reschedule. I finally received my furniture 6 weeks later from the original date of August 4th delivery, delivered middle of September. Was finally happy when I recieved the furniture before the holidays as this furniture is in my formal dining room. Well I finally got to use it Thanksgiving Day and as my two little girls sat on it about 2 minutes later the bench gave out from underneath them and they fell to the floor. I called GBS on December 3rd to file a claim. I was told to email invoice and pictures. I did that following afternoon. I was told I would be contacted back about update on repair man to come out an access the damage. Didn’t hear from anyone for a whole month called back on January 2nd they said they couldn’t find my original claim and had to do a new one. After that didn’t receive a response back from them in 3 weeks had to call back and they said they were waiting on the repair man to return their call to come out and look at the damage. They instead asked me as the customer to reach out to the repair man and see if I could set up a date for them to come out and look at the broken furniture. The repair man was able to make it out about a couple weeks later. He said it was unrepairable and that he would send his report to GBS. I contacted GBS and the dump customer service since I was receieving zero phone calls back. I was finally able to talk to a manager who states that they were still waiting on the report from the repair man. I waited for about a week said they were going over his report and would return my phone call with a resolution. I never heard back so had to call them back. Once the representative saw how long this had been going o they contacted a supervisor and they got on the phone and said my claim was approved and that they would send the paperwork over to the dump and I would receive a call in 10 business days to get my replacement piece. I told them I’m worried this long I was held off and the run around that the piece of furniture would be discontinued. Well to my surprise it’s June I get an email through my junk mail stating my furniture has been discontinued and I need to go and get something of equal value. Now how come during this 7 month process as a customer was my concerns not taking care of in a timely manner and how come now I’m out the original piece that was in stock this whole time during the numerous phone calls and attempts to get this situation handled. As a 10 year customer with Haynes and The Dump with my whole house furnished in their furniture I will never return to these stores or refer them to any family, friends, and co workers. With the amount of money you spend on quality furniture you would hope your furniture would last more than a month in a room that’s rarely used and would be able to get the same exact piece within a timely manner of placing your claim. To say I’m upset with how my situation was handled it an understatement. I’m out as a customer because of...

UPDATE!!! After the predictable lack of communication, Ron finally calls me back and apologized for not only sending me the wrong thing but also not calling me back. He then says he will fix my order after speaking with the manager. Then he says he will adjust my order and the price because the foot board I ordered (but he mistakenly put the wrong one on my order) cost 400 more. Well Ron states he will get the delivery sorted out and sent to me this week. But did not work Monday. Little did I know Ron did not work again until this coming Friday. And Ron did not fix my order. Ron (in the most Ron of ways) just didn't do anything. He left my order as refused delivery and did not fix anything.

So, with it being Tuesday I decided to call the dump. No one there knows what's going on. I tell them the story. They say they will leave a note for the manager. My wife calls them to try and set up a new delivery date in the mean time. They tell us, that not only do they not have the foot board, but now also do not have the Head board. And my favorite part...it won't be in until May and the earliest they can deliver is June.

OH and they say they will not honor what Ron said about the price (on a "recorded line"). And that Ron did not have the authority (even after getting "approval" from his manager) to give us the rate he quoted us and we paid initially. We have a receipt showing all of this of course (which shows what we ordered). They said they are willing to charge us only 200 instead of 400 as a way to apologize. HAHAHAHA " sorry we screwed up after having over a month to literally do the easiest thing in the world like reading your order and loading the proper order on a truck and dropping it off at your house, give us 200 dollars more than you were supposed to pay as a way for us to show how bad we feel".

This place is a scam at best ( I say this because I don't know how anyone could be so incompetent, let alone an entire staff).

So I call to just request a refund and be done with this place. They tell me they can't give me a refund. That only the manager can and he is not working. That he will call me tomorrow. But they would not give me a specific time. You know. Incase it is busy...on a Wednesday morning or afternoon or evening...what? I went in there on a weekend and a weekday and at most 6 customers. The sales people just sitting at their desks on their phones. Clearly the manager isn't managing his sales representatives or checking orders. Or helping people who have an issue. So what does this manager do?

Customer Service: Horrible Use one of their affiliates instead like Haynes or Ashley.

The lack of follow up and communication at this location is absurd. I purchased a $1400 bedroom set in February. Didn't receive it until today. It was the wrong product. I've tried calling them throughout the whole process and could only get someone on the phone if I called the sales desk. Customer service wouldn't answer at all any of the 3 times I called them. Left messages with only 1 call back and it was to confirm my delivery date which the automated email already told me. I had spent over 2 hours speaking with the sales associate "Ron" trying to purchase the bedroom set. He knows absolutely nothing about how their computers work. It was a joke. He was a nice older man but he shouldn't be working there. Even after literally pointing out on the computer screen what I wanted to order and walking him through every piece of my purchase he still somehow put the wrong foot board on my order. The cleaning lady who was hearing impaired was phenomenal. She flagged down a sales associate as soon as she noticed no one in the store was paying any attention. It's like they don't even want your money. They just walk around on their cell phones or chat at the desk and ignore you. And the delivery guy from the warehouse was awesome. Helped me sort out my order and told me to refuse the order instead of except it in order to avoid charges.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS LOCATION. YOU WILL NOT BE SATISFIED WITH...

First off this place is in a not so good location. The area itself makes me feel unsafe and uncomfortable to even go there. It is never busy and I will say why. Their prices are $$$$. Especially since most of the products there are overstocked or unsold Haynes Furniture items. The store inside is overcrowded and not handicap friendly by any means at all. I went looking for a new bedroom set and new queen mattress set. The mattresses were more than advertised. There is no affordable items like the commercials state. I was followed by 2 different salesmen during my visit to the store. I told both I was just looking and would come and get them when I needed help. Both were very pushy and this is a HUGE turn off for me. Customers do NOT want to be haggled or pushed into buying something they do not like. The mattresses were basically all the same ones that Haynes furniture carries and they are poorly crafted mattresses. They did have a few higher end ones but the prices were not outlet prices by any means at all. I went into the back room, which is basically a clearance type of furniture area, and some of the display mattresses were over 30 years old. I went back out to the regular mattress area and the mattresses were dirty and only 2 of the multiple mattresses met my expectations of "soft". Both were not luxury mattresses they were just plain everyday beautyrest mattresses that Haynes had for $900 cheaper than they did. Which makes absolutely no sense to me at all. The salesman kept stating that I was inaccurate with my prices. I don't appreciate being belittled by anybody. He actually said " You are ignorant and Haynes doesn't carry this matttress." Ok to call me ignorant is a major insult and I had just been to Haynes that same day and showed him a picture of the same mattress set with the price. He did not apologize to me for his rudeness nor mistake in what he did not know. I felt very insulted and I should not have to prove myself to any salesman whatsoever. Due to the fact that another couple was standing nearby they heard everything he said to me. This couple immediately left as well as I did. Due to the mistreatment of me, as a customer, I will never come back nor buy another item from a store where any employee belittles me and calls me ignorant. I hope the OWNER is reading this. You need to get some decent employees if you want to stay in business and keep any loyal customers. I have purchased many items here since 1998. Never again will I spend a penny in this store. My money is good anywhere. My credit is outstanding and I can go anywhere I want to buy furniture. I can tell you that my money or credit will never be used in a store where the customer is called "Ignorant". That is a slap in the face to me. The fact that I NEVER got an APOLOGY really stuck with me and I am not shopping at any place that deliberately disrespects me. I also felt humiliated because the salesman was very LOUD in his responses to me and that couple overheard what he said to me. When I left they were outside and the woman said to me " Honey you don't need this place nor should anybody say something so nasty to a customer. Because of how he humiliated you we will never come back her." This only adds to your lack of loyal and possibly new customers. The owner needs to take a hard look at what's going on inside his business. Customers should NEVER be treated this way. I am a very respectful woman that is not loud or rude in any way so I also placed this on my facebook where I had 200+ comments from friends who said they had similar experiences at this store. So the OWNER needs to hire some respectful employees if he wants customers to...
