Tdlr: Desperate for money, sketchy. No care at all for customer experience - wants your money at any cost. Nothing is ever their fault, they always toss excuses at any problem and never take responsibility. Check the other reviews, experiences match up.
The contract you sign with them also appears to protect them from being sued in a class action lawsuit. Something an ethical company needs right?
Contract also appears to say they can use photo/video of members without permission. So free advertising materials without permission or pay? Screen shots included, see for yourself.

Full review: I tried to sign up at the gym I wanted to routinely go to. Management was never available and difficult to work with. I had to sign up at a different location. This has been a routine issue at all locations. Management is never there in hours I could come by in person, and they require you to do just that for everything related to your account or signing up for anything.
I was unable to get any class or group schedules sent to me from the location close to me, despite reaching out several times. So I didnāt use this gym companies services. Not once. Tried to get private sessions but the tangle of hoops to jump through with driving to the farther location at certain times to discuss it etc etc made me not bother.
Anyhow, didnāt work for me and wanted to cancel. Afterall, they wouldnāt want to keep my money if they hadnāt fulfilled any service to me, right? I hadnāt gone even one time. But, they have the predatory practice of locking you into a contract and exit fees that cost as much as just letting it expire.
Which I did. Or so I thought⦠after calling and texting multiple days to the manager previously asking to get let out of the contract, she decided the best course of action was to let an auto renew feature of the contract take place, and to just keep charging me longer when my contract was up.
Ok, simple fix right? I can just get a refund and cancel right? No, they will never refund you. And even worse, they refuse to let you sign any cancellation paperwork until you pay renewal fees on a service you already asked to cancel months ago. Basically they hold your credit hostage to squeeze more money out of you.
This isnāt just one location, I reached out directly to the regional manager and was given the same lines and no offer for refund. $750 for absolutely nothing.
This gym uses scummy practices done in bad faith. They know a customer isnāt served by being charged after a contract ends, when they requested a cancellation. Any legitimate business would simply refund it and strive to keep a good relationship with the customer. They really only care about grabbing as much of your money as possible before you get out of this bad relationship.
Iām also not a lawyer, but when I read through the contract it appears to state customers can never have a class action lawsuit against them (sketchy) and that they can use photo/video of customers (possibly in advertising campaigns, possibly also sell them) without consulting us first or paying us for usage. Yikes. Big yikes to everything about this place.
Edit - reply to owner: Why do you need full ownership of members photos/videos for EDITORIAL use and have members sign away any claims of income for usage, if you're only using this for security purposes? Makes no sense.
"MEMBER gives up all claims of ownership, income, editorial content, and use of such media, and assigns all copyright ownership to Anytime Fitness...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was injured in the group fitness each time I took a class. This workout is just not good for me. They don't care - they want their money THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET OUT OF THE MEMBERSHIP IS IF YOU ARE PERMANENTLY DISABLED OR DEAD. READ THEIR CONTRACT! ALSO THEY TELL YOU IT'S ONE YEAR BUT IT'S REALLY TWO READ THE FINE PRINT! Nothing is ever their fault! The scheduling app never works. I was sitting in Michelle's office and even though the discrepancy was right in front of her face - the app said I was signed in the computer said I wasn't she DENIED there was a problem!!! Then she tried the, well it's only you no one else has this problem - as though I don't matter!! As I'm doing my research I'm finding out that this is a company wide issue. It's how they are programmed to behave. Sound familiar?? You can check out Anytime you like but you can NEVER leave!!! To get out of the Gym membership costs $3168!!!! I am now in the process of finding a primary care physician because the chiropractor who actually KNOWS me well his opinion doesn't count They are harassing me daily, sending emails, texts and phone calls which when I was paying and not going to the gym I NEVER received any phone call checking in with me to see if I was alright after one of their workouts. When you first sign up you have 2 DAYS ONLY 2 DAYS to decide if this program is going to work for you or not!!!! Ridiculous!!! There is no way to know whether or not you are just sore or injured from their workouts in 2 DAYS!! It took me 3 weeks and I realized it was their workouts that were causing me pain so that I couldn't sleep because of my back and hip. I am a former athlete, I am a ballet dancer, tennis and volleyball player and swimmer. I still dance (swing and salsa), swim and play tennis. For some people I'm sure these exercises are fine. THEY ARE DAMAGING TO ME!!!
They have an excuse for everything but notice NOT ONCE do they address the injury. They DISMISSED the chiropractor's form except now when they have decided it works in their favor. NOT ONCE was I told of the other options or pricing. They are on the run there is a class action lawsuit forming against them. They are predatory in their practice of presenting offers. I DID NOT sign up for 24 months I was told 1 year. Regardless all of this is moot - THEIR WORKOUTS INJURED ME. They do not care they will not let me out of my membership without paying $3168 and will put my account into collections to satisfy their greed. They DO NOT care if I am benefiting from their offerings or not. I will NOT speak with them because every time I do they dismiss everything I say and try to wrangle me back in. They DO NOT listen, they do not take into account that they injured me. Why in god's name would I ever want to be around or speak to people like that ever again???? It is a small gym it's not like I could go there and avoid anyone. It would be very stressful to have to go there just as a gym membership. They currently are charging me randomly without my permission whatever they have decided they should charge me. I am NOT going there I will never go back there again. This whole thing has been traumatic. These people employ deceptive trade practices and every agency that helps in this situation has been notified and they are NOT happy with how these people are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEDIT: Avoid this gym at all costs. This has been a freaking pain to deal with. I was willing to deal with a $90 final payment to be free of this and I am getting charged late fees for a membership I was told that I wouldn't even have once the $90 was paid. They haven't even drafted the full amount yet which I have been waiting for so why am I getting late fees and emails about getting in good standing on top of it?
This is absolutely ridiculous and I don't care if this gym is convenient for you or you think the people are nice. Just avoid it. I don't even live in Texas anymore and I am still having to deal with this absolute hot garbage.
To start off with, I can admit I did not use my membership near as much as I would have liked to. I got it with good intentions but right off the bat, I felt like I was being pressured to do things I didn't want to do, such as the training session to start out with. I got this membership as a way to separate my work day from the rest of my day and after eight hours of helping grieving families, I did not want to really talk to anyone else and I just wanted to be alone to process.
I ended up receiving at least a call every other day, leaving me messages about a session I had no interest in. So, I blocked the number.
On the rare occasion I did make it into the gym, I went later in the day or early in the morning. This was partly done in order to feel like I could go in without being accosted or anything, as the repeated calls made me feel like if I went in, I was going to have to talk to someone.
I recently moved to a different state and reached out to see about changing my home gym to a location here so that I could cancel in person and stop paying the $40 fee for a membership I am not using. I have previously worked for a gym so I totally get that there are certain things you have to do to cancel.
Once I mentioned cancelling, I got FOUR CALLS within a minute from this location. I was at work, where even if I did not have the number routed, I would not have been able to answer. I have attached a photo of this.
This is ridiculous. I completely understand that there is retention rates and trying to see what can be "fixed" to retain customers, but come on.
At this point, I just want my membership cancelled. I don't like being the person to make reviews and I typically go out of my way to celebrate even the smallest things that retail businesses/other businesses do right but this has just rubbed me the wrong way.
If you have stuck around this long, the facility itself is very nice. It's small and simple and exactly what I was looking for at the time.
It was clean and the...
