Trails West Golf Course — Local services in Leavenworth

Played today after not having been here for at least 20 years. It's a gem. Hilly, many green complexes/approaches uphill. Small greens in great shape even though they were running pretty slow. Fairways in most spots were country club level smooth and firm zoysia. Several spots will remind you of Swope Memorial; short length but you have to be in the fairway. Rough here is thick and mature with often narrow fairways, second par five on the front nine I paced off had a 20 yard wide landing area. Completely fair, but challenging. There aren't any goofy holes; 18 has a target landing area with trees guarding the left of the green on your approach (uphill again), but it too is fair. Back nine increases the overall length with some ~200 yard par threes from the tips. Don't let the 6,200 yard length keep you away. It's a fun track. Plan your arrival if you haven't been because as a civilian, you will need to check in at the fort entry which is not next...

This is by far the nicest golf course I have played at on a military base! It is family run and absolutely beautiful and well kept. I have played multiple times here in the last year and it never disappoints! The staff are very friendly and helpful always! The groundskeepers are class! The greens and fairways are well kept! I have played mostly in the summer and fall and I cannot wait to keep playing in the spring! The golf scrambles are always top notch as the staff do what they can to make it an enjoyable and organized experience! The prices are of great value too for the immaculate course you get to play on. My family and I just got here and I always like to browse around for a new golf course to get a membership after we move. Trails West golf course was exactly what I was looking for. The staff is very friendly! I have a 6 year old and we pretty much go everyday to the course for a few hours. They have a great family membership package and I personally think the prices are absolutely fantastic!
