Felt I should share my poor experience with Home Depot.com while attempting to purchase a Frigidaire dehumidifier. Hopefully this will save others from this inexcuseable, frustrating waste of time.
I wanted to purchase a 70 pint dehumidifier. I was looking for quality so I purchased a Frigidaire. It was quite expensive, $346.32 with tax. The store does not stock this item so I had to purchase it from Home Depot online. It was to be delivered to the local store for me to pick up.
Two weeks later it arrived at the store. I went to pick it up and was shocked to see the horrible condition of the box. The box was ripped open, torn in multiple places, all smashed in and falling apart. This was not just a case of a little bumping around during shipping. This box was obviously abused. It’s my feeling that everyone who handled the box was just throwing it around to avoid lifting it properly due to the fact that it’s heavy. The abuse that this box and my dehumidifier suffered is shameful and disgusting. When I picked it up, I pointed out the awful condition to the young lady who was working. She acknowledged and said that pretty much every online purchase that comes in is in this condition. What? This is not okay!
I took the package home and opened it right away. I wasn’t sure that I’d keep it even if it looked okay because one never knows what damage the internal components have endured. Well, it didn’t take but a few minutes to discover that this high strength casing was badly cracked by the drain spout. This is a material that would be difficult to break, even if you tried to crack it. This speaks volumes about the abusive manner in which this expensive dehumidifier was handled. The individuals who mishandled this unit had absolutely no respect for the package and it’s contents. In fact, apparently no pride in their work. It’s pitiful. If this is the abysmal standard that Home Depot is okay with, count me out for any future business.
When I took this mess back to the store for a refund I asked to speak with the store manager. I felt that she should see this. She was nice enough and agreed that this was definitely a case of extreme abuse and job neglect on the part of the individuals who handled my purchase. Ultimately, she said that there was nothing that she could do to stop this sort of thing. I seriously do not understand why Home Depot would continue to tolerate this. It’s my feeling that they need to lay down the law with their employees and the shippers they use. Why would you allow this to continue?
In any case, I got my purchase price credited back to my credit card and told the manager that I normally would order another one but I just didn’t trust that the same thing wouldn’t happen again. So they lost my business and if any of you reading this want to save yourself from having an experience like mine, shop elsewhere. Btw, see the attached photos of the box and dehumidifier. The pictures...
Read morePeople leaving bad reviews about the Lebanon Home Depot are crabby disgruntled people who are never happy anywhere. This store is the best Home Depot in the entire Greater Cincinnati area. It’s clean, the employees are knowledgeable and BEYOND helpful. (If you want to experience staff who don’t know anything go to Lowe’s). They are more than fully stocked with items as it’s one of the quietest and least populated HD stores I’ve ever been in.
The best workers at the store are:
Head Cashier: Alejandre at the first register. I see her most mornings as I’m checking out and she’s always helpful, happy and gets the work day started off right.
Loading worker: Jason. Hands down the best guy I’ve ever seen anywhere in assisting the customers loading materials and generally finding stuff. (I’m thinking of stealing him for my own company;)
Doors and Windows: Bruce Karlson. The most knowledgeable wood worker/former contractor. If you have a question about anything this is the guy to see—-even if you’re not going to buy it at the store this guy is #1
Tile: Cat. She’s always smiling and willing to look up any esoteric item I can’t find even if it’s NOT in her section A+.
Manager: Jon. I read a review criticizing him for not taking off another 10% for an item that was already yellow tagged. Hey jerk customer: that’s HD policy fool:(. Jon has bent over backwards to help me and is well respected and liked by all employees. He’s always helpful.
Prodesk: Amy. She’s always working her tail off at the pro desk but will stop and help find anything you need. Ever since Josh and Kent left she’s had to pick all the slack but does it very well.
Electrical: Dylan. This young guy is new but he’s always willing to discuss electrical issues and steer you in the right direction. His twin brother Evan works in Lumber;)
Plumbing: Dan. Dan is head of plumbing department and unlike other stores, he’ll leave his department to help you track down other items. A great guy.
These people are all the standouts with Bruce Karlson probably being the most knowledgeable human I’ve ever spoken with in any big box store anywhere.
The store is immaculate: if you want to see what a store would look like if all employees were magically whisked away by aliens it’s here;). Compare it to the war zone/ghetto that is the Highland ave/Ridge store and it’s like night and day. TO be fare the Ridge store is much busier but the quality of employee there is much worse (The Winfield Brown the manager is excellent but it’s hard to juggle and manage when the employees at the Ridge store don’t either know or care:(.
So it’s a little out of the way, but drive up to the Lebanon Home Depot and check it out. They store is well-stocked and clean. It’s staffed by the best Home Depot team in city...
Read morewould prefer to give 0 stars but Yelp will not allow me to give less than 1. We purchased 4 new kitchen appliances and had them delivered the following weekend. The delivery was an issue. While we paid for the installation of the dishwasher, they did not have the necessary clamp. My husband had to make a trip to the store to get the clamp and then complete the install himself. The bigger issue was that the microwave was damaged. We returned the microwave to the store and were told that they could not take it, another one would be delivered the following weekend. Okay, a week without a microwave. My husband gets a call while at work on a Friday that the delivery people are in our driveway and they'll wait for 20 minutes. Not a possibility for him to get home so they leave. The biggest problem with this whole situation is the lack of customer service when I contacted Brian the manager. He apologized but didn't offer any solution other than refunding my money for the microwave, which we had to return ourselves. The lack of empathy for us with regards to attempt to rectify the situation was extremely disappointing. Home Depot also did not refund the tax that we paid for the microwave. I will be contacting my credit card company about that. We were able to walk into Lowes, ask for the microwave and have it loaded into a cart in less than 10 minutes. I regret buying my appliances from this Home Depot and will be using other stores for my home remodeling and repair needs. I will also be sharing my experience with others so that...
