The Brush Factory on Kings — Local services in Lewes

To the rude Lewes women who acted in a accusatory manner after a little glass jar with a red styrofoam red heart fell to the floor and broke SHAME ON YOU!! I was shopping at the Brush Factory which is the same place I spent over $500.00 over the holidays. As I was looking at a picture below the shelf with these jars I wanted to see the price so I lifted the picture off the nail. The long tag from the jar was caught between the two pictures which I didn't see and of course it fell and broke. Right away a clerk ran over and stated "YOU BREAK IT YOU BUY IT". I was shocked and said it wasn't my fault and I will not pay for it. The clerk said it again and I stated it wasn't my fault so I will not pay for it. Two minutes later another woman runs over and said I needed to pay for it and I told her I spent over $500 over the holidays in the Brush Factory and this wasn't my fault. She asked me where I live and how long and not that it's her business I told her Lewes. She told me I needed to leave now. I said I wasn't leaving and continued to shop. She followed bullying me at every step. I asked where she lived and she said Lewes and they have been here for 200 years. I then said that's great do you own the place she claimed she did. Still bullying me and telling me to leave or she would call the police. I called her a name (b....) which she deserved. Never in 15 yrs have I ever been treated so badly and bullied by stuck up women in Lewes. Obviously I didn't go in the Brush Factory to do damage and it was not my fault. I would suggest you get your staff to check the shelves to make sure the prices on the gifts aren't wrapped around others. This display from the sales clerks was unjustified and uncalled for. The Brush Factory is the not so hidden gem of Lewes DE! There are a lot of local vendors which is why I love supporting small business like The Brush Factory that give them all a home. There is constantly new inventory and so much to explore. They have everything from art, clothing, furniture, produce and so much more. The staff is extremely helpful, and knowledgable, and I enjoy every visit I am able to make to this beautiful store. I also love following their social media for updates on events, and new pieces they get in!

Side note to the deranged comments bashing this store and the vendors who are also small business owners. You should really read what you're writing and check your entitlement. Pretty sure in 99% of stores the POLICY is you break it you buy it lol, stores are also known to have policies on returns/exchanges! Its crazy people feel companies should bend the rules just for them, they are just that special! :) Ignore the hate and check out this store you...

My husband and I stopped in on Friday June 11,2021. I was so excited to get Fusion paint from a local store and was excited about the local vendors they have. I spent $146 on my first visit and intended on purchasing a table from them but I returned on a Sunday afternoon to EXCHANGE one of the unopened jars of paint that I purchased two days earlier and was told no returns. The rude woman tells me she had no idea how I stored this jar and what temperature exposure this paint could’ve been under. I try to show her my receipt from 2 days ago and I shook the jar and let her hear that it was very fluid but she said no and quickly dismissed me. So I took my jar of paint snd told her I will now order from Amazon where I won’t lose my money and where I will be treated with respect. Get with it people, treat your customers better. We choose local small businesses to support you. We do have other choices! This shopper will never shop...
